I was just listening to the guys on TVA sports and they were talking about P.K. Subban still not sign. Apparently he was asking for something like Dougthy money (wich is to much from the team standing point, and mine as well) and the team wants to give him a contract around 3,5 4 m.
Maybe ottawa could offer sheet at 5, 5.5 or try to trade for him. In both ways it will force Mtl hands wich would be great . What do you guys thinks about this a top for of Cowen Karlsson Methot Subban would be solid.
If he wants Doughty money, why would he accept 5mil or 5.5mil? Also not a chance. That 1st could be a lottery pick and we dont have a 2nd that would be required.

If we get Subban, we would not qualify for a lottery pick. That 2nd could be arranged with a quick trade.

All 14 teams that miss the playoffs could qualify for a lottery pick, in this new CBA we won't see much of GMs trading 1sts until draft day when they actually know where its ranked, too much risk to trade them before.
How about these proposals? Tell me how far off I am value wise:
Ottawa:
Sergei Gonchar
Pittsburgh:
2nd Round Pick 2013
------------------
Ottawa:
Milan Michalek
2nd Round Pick 2013
Montreal:
Josh Gorges
-----------------
Ottawa:
6th Round Pick 2014
Chris Wideman
Vancouver:
Keith Ballard
I don't think the Montreal trade would ever happen because of the rivalry but I think the value is there.
Ottawa:
Sergei Gonchar
Pittsburgh:
2nd Round Pick 2013
Gonchar for a 2nd round pick would be the dumbest trade possible... We need D-men, Gonchar is our 2nd best, produce about 40 points (22nd in D-men scoring last year, despite missing 8 games) and a 2nd round pick COULD pay off in 4 or 5 years, maybe. What's the point of doing that trade?
Murray : "well, the Pens wanted Gonchar back so we thought that adding a good prospect to our already stacked prospect pool could be a big difference maker in the end. Screw the playoffs this season, it's a shortened season anyway"
We don't need cap space, and Gonchar is UFA in 48 games, he's not a burden at all
Ottawa:
Milan Michalek
2nd Round Pick 2013
Montreal:
Josh Gorges
lol
Josh Gorges is a good player but Milan Michalek is not some kind of scrub... he scored 35 goals last year, 11th in NHL goals scoring and got 60 points... Only 54 NHL forwards scored more than 60 pts... He plays on our 1st line and is our 2nd best forward after Spezza (since Turris and Silfverberg are so young and unproven and Alfie is close to retirement)
And we have to ADD a 2nd round pick?
The underrating and unappreciation of Michalek on this board is sickening
Ottawa:
6th Round Pick 2014
Chris Wideman
Vancouver:
Keith Ballard
Makes more sense, Ballard value is low because of salary and recent performance... Canucks need to get rid of salary. If no other team "bid" on Ballard, it could be enough

Are you sure of that? Habs had Subban last year and they ended up with the 3rd overall pick...
I wouldn't mind trading for him though but the price to get him and the salary that he wants are turn-off

If you want Subban, you would trade that 1st pick right now.
I don't care that we could finish 17th and have a minimal chance of getting the first pick. Subban is worth that risk.
I was also saying that with Subban we would make the playoffs.

Are you being narrow minded this morning?
Do we have the same team as MTL? How many things went bad for them last year?
Markov and Gionta were gone for 67 and 49 games respectively, their GM lost his mind, player traded in game, coach being fired on game day. Just to name a few.

Alright, I'm calling you out for your call-out.
He just provided 3 clear and concise rebuttals to some atrocious trade proposals and you want to call him narrow minded??

You calling me out for my call-out about his comment about my comment ONLY - does this make sense in english? Xspyrit knows what I'm talking about (Subban). You must be narrow minded as well
I agreed with his other 3 comments regarding those atrocious trade proposals.
Xspyrit nice to see you still enlightening the fan base with your vast hockey knowledge

What does one have to do with the other?
Gorges is a top pair d-man easily and is worth more than Michalek
There is NO WAY the Sens pick 3rd overall if they get Subban

Sarcasm? Because my "hockey knowledge" really went down in the last few year... I don't watch as many games as before or read forums/articles like I was. I'm not even subscribed to NHL Center Ice anymore
But I think most of my posts make sense though... If you think we should add a 2nd round pick to Michalek to pry Josh freaking Gorges out of the Habs, then I don't know what to say...

No I just meant that it's not garanteed that we'd be out of a lottery pick even if we had Subban... Habs had good players last year... Plekanec, Pacioretty, Price, Gionta, Subban, Cole, Desharnais... but still sucked
You never know what can happen, but I have more confidence in the Sens to do better though
I'm all for getting Subban, but we won't like the prices (to get him and to pay him)

I'd do Hoffman + 5th maybe, but not Da Costa and a 3rd would be too high IMO
We wouldn't propose it because we don't want Georges, if we were trading Michalek we would ask for a better defenceman than that.
Don't want Gorges? OK there

If he's just a #4 d-man with zero offense, he's easily replaceable. There's a guy like that on every corner street. The Sens have 3 of them in Methot, Phillips and Cowen.
They would take the 35 goal winger and run. Replace Gorges later.
Most of you probably think Gorges is worse than Hjalmarsson... a guy supposedly worth Zack Smith.

Don't worry it's a guarantee.
The Habs didn't have Karlsson or Spezza in addition to Subban, and their depth is/was much worse than Ottawa's. Ottawa has quality depth players.
