1/2 season predictions

Now that we've had a chance to digest the fact we WILL have a season. So, what are you expecting this year.

I'll start, with a WtF?

Columbus and Detroit will be fighting to keep from being on the bottom of the Central.

No, I am not on any meds.

Columbus lost Nash, yes, BUT, they scored a massive amount of defense, Bob to play net, Foligno, their defense corp might be better than Nashville's, Everyone says they need a #1 center....but they say the same thing with Nashville. They might just have their Legwand I(Not in overrated draft pick but underrated defensive player) in Boone Jenner. Also Columbus had 1/3rd of their team in Springfield which leads the division and 2nd in the conference. They will have 3 goalies fighting for the starting spot which is better than Mason alone. Also a new coach. Best thing for them is to tank for McKinneon get sent to the SE and then win the division.

Now for Detroit, oy, they lose Holmstrom, Lidstrom, and Stewart. Gain Tootoo and Cola who's already hurt.

As for a Preds prediction, I have no ****ing idea.

I could see them walking away with the Central or blowing it. So SNAFU.

Craig Smith is in the top 3 in points for our team. I think he and Erat battle for #1 all year.

Honey Badger don't care.

I'll say the Blues win the division, Blackhawks followed by the Preds and Detroit/Columbus for last place.

Sk has a couple streaks and leads us in goals.

Blum bounces back, and Wilson breaks out.

If Blum bounces back and Wilson breaks out, I cant see us being 3rd in the division, unless some other guys crap the bed... here's hoping youre right on those two

I'm gonna be the downer and say that i've got a bad feeling about this season, just feeling like we're gonna have the injury bug and finish 9th.

I'll be a downer too

A slow start for any team can kill all playoff hope. The loss of Suter, playing a sophomore on the top pairing, and lack of a #4 dman will probably contribute to a slow start this year. So much is riding on the Weber-Josi pairing. Chemistry will be huge for us.

Forwards are more or less the same as last year. Better, actually. So that's good.

I also don't like that a lot of our top players simply aren't playing any hockey right now. Though that may be true for a lot of teams, not sure. Luckily SK is playing and doing well.

Barely miss the playoffs.

I think this is gonna be an odd year, but I will go with this:

1. St. Louis
2. Vancouver
3. Anaheim
4. Nashville
5. Chicago
6. LA
7. Edmonton
8. Dallas
9. San Jose
10. Columbus
11. Minnesota
12. Detroit
13. Phoenix
14. Colorado
15. Calgary

And I can make a very compelling arguement that Columbus is better than Detroit. I think Bobrovsky is a better goaltneder than howard. I think the d-corp of CBJ is much much better than Detroit top to bottom. Columbus is much like s without a dynamo scorer, but I like their gritt and depth. Anisomov-Johansen-Dubinsky is good center depth, and umberger, brassard, foligno, atkinson and prospal is solid. nothing sexy. granted, datsyuk and zetterburg aren't on this roster, but fact is they don't have much around them.

I would be shocked to see the Blues finish 3rd. They are on another tier comparing to everyone in our division.

Fair enough, although I do think we'll end up 2nd still.

We finish 12th in conference. Draft Darnell Nurse or Rasmus Ristolainen.

If we finish that low, I would be really hoping one of Barkov/Drouin/Lindholm falls. Any one of those guys could be the gamebreaker we need in our forward corps.

Our defensive prospect depth is actually getting kind of thin, and it's a D-heavy year. Robert Hagg is another one I could see poile going after. Seems big into Swedish d-men the last few drafts.

Count me in, though, it'll be a tight race for third between the Wings and Preds.

I agree we need to pick up Dmen, but if there is a possible star forward available, we HAVE to get him. If there isn't, I agree we need to go about 75% D this draft.

If Barkov or Drouin are on the board when the Preds are up it would have to be a no brainer right?

And finishing 17th doesn't mean a mid-round pick either

How hilarious would it be if the Oilers young squad came together this season and surprised some people, but finished somewhere in the 15-17 spot... and won the lottery?

Other than all non playoff teams having a shot at number 1, nothing has changed...so yes, if we are terrible, we will have a high pick.

we finish 4th in the division
weber leads our team in points
tootoo gets in a fight with ex-teammate and beats the **** out of him
we battle some early injuries and our forward corps are exposed
Rinne finishes with a .904% sv pct.
Wilson is unable to play for trotz
Bourque comes back from injury and is nearly a PPG player
Suter and the Wild win their division
Our attendance will fall bad thanks to the ignorant folks with the lockout
Josi proves to be a #1 pairing defenseman beside Weber
Trotz still didn't find his neck through the lockout

I could see either a really good season (us and bluesers battling for the division) or I could see us really crumbling and not even making the playoffs if Josi proves incapable of taking on Suter's workload or is injured.

Also, we are very much underwater if SK pulls a Rads. Don't think he will, but for some reason it worries me.

This is pretty much Wilson's year to prove he has it or he doesn't. Hopefully trotz loosens the leash on him, Smith, and Hals. I thought the "doghouse" line looked great last year for the short stretch they were together.
