The wife of former Sharks center Dominic Moore has died after a nine-month battle with liver cancer.

Katie Moore, who died on Monday, was diagnosed with a rare form of the disease in April, two months after her husband was acquired by the Sharks just before the 2012 NHL trade deadline.

Dominic Moore ‏@mooredom
I'd like to express our deep appreciation for the overwhelming care and sympathy we have received since my wife's passing on Monday.

The example Katie displayed throughout her life and in particular during her illness is a source of continued strength and inspiration...

...as is the love and support of those around us. Donations can be made to the future Katie Moore Foundation at http://katiemoore.org

I've always liked Dom, him and his wife seemed like really good people.

Rest in peace.

The players will fly on owner Jeff Vinik's plane. To accommodate their trip, today's practice at Germain Arena in Estero is at 6:15 p.m.

Dominic Moore speaks about his wife: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/...rticle9262910/

Also, for those wondering:

Quote:
I get a word in edgewise to ask whether he will sign with a team soon. “There have been options offered. But I’m not at this point accepting them.” He pauses. “I need to take some time.”
