Yep, I see that.

But with the Wolves season in full swing, we may just need to bring in some extra guys so they can push the competition level in camp where the team has a better chance of coming out flying. I don't see bringing in a Barker as threatening any of our marginal D that do have a legitimate shot.

It's the only reasoning that I can see that makes any sense for management to entertain bringing in a guy who is clearly a bust.

Didn't see this until after I posted the above...but the injury thing is something that I did overlook. In a weird camp like this,: no exhibition games, and situations where some guys have been playing in Europe, some guys have been playing at UBC, etc. with consequent different levels of game shape means that injuries do become more prossible.

It always seems that way, doesn't it?

Short season, he has played at the NHL level, worth a look to see how this "Marginal D" measures up. No time to falter out of the gate.

All 1 way's over 925K I believe the number is now count against the cap though. Rangers are in a interesting situation with Redden lol. So no sending down Alberts for us unless he is picked up on waivers.

I may be misremembering, but wasn't there a massive outbreak of groin injuries in 05/06 after the full season lockout?

Yep. There is just that difference in intensity...no matter how hard you are skating or training.

Game conditions are different.

Good thing we aren't an injury prone team...

cautionary example for our more highly touted prospects?

i used to think that's why we kept picking up all those warriners and berehowskis and omelettes. turns out our brass during the burke/nonis years just knew that going on someone else's failing prognostication was still better than listen to our own moronic scouts.

The only one of these rescue projects that I can remember sticking was Peter Schaefer...and after a few early great games, it was apparent that it, whatever "it" is, was gone.

well if you go as far back as the quinn regime, marty gelinas was one. and scott lachance was at least a regular. you could arguably add naslund to this list too.

Arnott is 38, what exactly does he have left in the tank? Didn't look great last season, IMO. I'm a fan of moneypuck but last two season they've just been scraping the bottom of the barrel instead. The fact that we're interested in Barker just makes me sad.

Just heard on the radio here that Mason Raymond is on the ice with a group of mostly Flames at "Winsport", whereever that is.

That is all.

He's from Calgary and he was over in Sweden. Likely stopping in before he comes out to Vancouver, just like how Willie Mitchell often skates with Canucks at UBC before training camp.

Raymond barely had time to unpack his bags in Sweden before the lockout ended.
