Not leading the rush does not equal quit playing.

So, at the end of a game his team is losing, you expect him to play conservative? That seems like the right time to take chances.

OK that sounds a little better. I guess a little awareness never hurt, but Lindholm is supposed to be pretty smart in general so it probably doesn't reflect a greater awareness problem. Not like say a Lindros.

Without getting too ahead of myself.

That draft pick trade with the Leafs in 2011 is looking pretty good right now.

Absolutely, that's the time to take chances. But taking chances does not mean an indiscriminate abandonment of caution. If you're going to be leading the rush across the line, moving laterally, you can't have your head down, dicking with the puck in your feet. Until Lindholm gets that habit, I don't want him doing that. His development is way more valuable to me than a Norfolk win.

I'm not saying he definitely has a poor habit, because I frankly haven't seen enough of him. This is speculation based on the one incident I saw and the fact that he already has another from being smacked shoulder-to-head (in an incident I did not see and have no information on). As Snark mentioned, he does seem like a smart player, but smart players can have weaknesses too, especially young ones.

Karlsson was back in HV71 today and had 3 assists, more points than he scored in the entire WJC tournament...

I remember hearing a few Swedes complain that Karlsson never shows up for his national team like he does for his club teams.

Still, he needs to make sure he is symptom free before they even begin to try contact drills. I hope Anaheim, and Norfolk, are in agreement there. Not just for the sake of his development, but because he's so friggin young. Could you imagine if he gets dealt another concussion, and gets put into a situation similar to what Pronger is seeing?

Of course, I want him to get healthy so he can turn into the badass defenseman he looks like he has the potential to be, but as someone who experiences chronic pain, it can be devastating to your lifestyle, and he's too young to go through that.

Rakell has a new teammate from the gold medal game. Vincent Trocheck has been traded to Plymouth.

Don't really see the point in the Gibson invite. Don't see him stealing a spot from Fasth or even Andersen. I guess it can be an evaluation but hasnt the WJC and OHL been a good enough evaluation thus far? Can't see him winning a back up job. Especially if he has to leave Kitchener. Palazzese has been good, but can he handle a full season's worth of work?

Rakell also getting a tryout at camp.

Wow. They'd be fun to watch together.

I don't think they are really going to use Gibson in NHL or AHL just yet. I guess it's a sort of reward for him and the management can check him out more closely. Or something. Seriously he's not threating anyones job by being there.

You're reading way too much into the invite. Gibson is there to get a taste of playing with the big dogs. He's not there to win anything. They need extra goaltenders for camp. As others have said, it's more of a reward. Camp is all of a week. Kitchner will survive while he's gone.
