Orr: "My Story’’

Bruins great Bobby Orr’s memoir to be released in October

NEW YORK — One of hockey’s greatest and most private stars, Bobby Orr, is finally telling his life story.
‘‘Orr: My Story’’ will be released in October by G.P. Putnam’s Sons. The former Boston Bruins defenseman and three-time Hart Trophy winner as the National Hockey League’s most valuable player is promising to share some experiences he believes ‘‘worth putting down on paper.’’ According to Tuesday’s announcement by Putnam, Orr will reflect on his remarkable career and on his angry break from his former agent and close friend Alan Eagleson.

Just saw this and was wondering what thread to shoehorn it into.

This will make a great b-day gift come October. Gotta start dropping hints to the The Warden.

I finished Derek Sanderson's book last night. Great read.

Lots of praise for Sinden and Bobby Orr.

Who is this Bobby Orr fellow, and why would I want to read his book?

Seriously tho - that's awesome... I had just figured all along that this was the one book that we all wanted that we just weren't going to get. He's such a private guy...

Bobby Orr is writing a book about his life

http://boston.cbslocal.com/2013/01/0...ut-in-october/

Apparently he will write at length about Eagleson.

Man it would be awesome if Hollywood adapted a movie of the rise and life of Bobby Orr. But if they ever made a legit docu-drama type movie of a hockey player, it would probably start with Gretzky

Regardless, if done well, I bet it would be a hit despite hockey being the red headed stepchild in America.

Would it be too "fan-boy" of me to predict this book will sweep every major literary award in 2014?

Miracle did ok. Slapshot. We just need star power.

Like Stallone playing Espo -
"Yo...uh...yo, Bobby. I izz gonna go stand in the grease. You's create a 4 on 3 and I bang it home, eh."

Sanderson - "Uh oh. Hey guys, I think Espo thought those were real tic tacs in my locker, hey hey!"

People in Philly would see it, what? At least 11 times each? Too bad the priest from the exorcist is too old. He always reminded me of Espo.

That's brilliant.

In all seriousness, excited about this book. Hopefully is a good read and should be a solid stocking stuffer for next Christmas.

Orr is such a gentleman it will be interesting to read how he addresses the Alan Eagleson issues.

If I was a player from that era, I'd want Eagleson to spend some quality time in a small room with Terry O'reilly.

Stephen Brunt's "Searching for Bobby Orr" appropriately skewered Eagleson, not just for his business dealings with Orr, but the entire NHLPA.

My gut feeling is that Orr will be succinct and express both anger and a huge sense of betrayal, but won't unduly savage Eagleson even though it's hard to say that Eagleson doesn't deserve it.
