But the good news (for the NHL) is all four of them are coming back, right? At least for now.
Kovy is still a questionmark but I think he will come back too. Ovy was already practicing with Caps, Malkin is back/on his way. Datsyuk may participate in KHL allstar game but will be back.
I think he'll back. As said, No CBA yet. Could get pretty ugly though.
May have something to do with the fact that Devils aren't really good team.. they can make the playoffs but that's about it imo. There's no one to replace Parise, misses #1D, and C depth is poor. Maybe.

I have a hard time buying this. He shouldn't have signed such a long deal if he wasn't sort of okay with some of those years probably being losers.
Maybe he's staying so the Devs will terminate his contract? He can then sign with them again for a more CBA compliant contract. It makes sense given the logic that Kovalchuk's contract initial contract with NJ was rejected by the league for being too egregious with it's cap circumvention. Lou isn't beyond stretching the rules.

There's a belief on twitter that Burke didn't want Luongo and the board did, so they replaced him with the guy who traded to get Luongo to Vancouver.
Burke is a very principled guy. He'll go down in flames for them. Burke has made it public before that he doesn't at all like back-diving contracts, which is exactly what Luongo's is.
The team also has new owners in tv companies Bell and Rogers, and it's competely believable that they'd want a big star goalie.

Well, nobody knows anything (yet). People just love to speculate. Especially in Toronto. Maybe some of them thought the Leafs were close to a deal but Burke couldn't make it happen. Or he didn't want Luongo.
