I was just looking at that.

They have 6.8m in room right now, but just under 12.5 if they buy out redden. Add what ever Del Zotto is going to get and it could be tight.

New York will find a way to make it work. They always do.

He has scott Niedermayer skating ability and plays very physical... get virtually no offense from him... He could step right in and give us 18 minutes a game... could potentially replace Phillips long term

If he can step in and play that much, I have a feeling Phoenix would want more than a 4th for him.

Not quite Niedermayer level when I watched Summers in limited action last year. Has he really improved his skating that much?

I agree he could step right in and give the Sens some good minutes.

I'm not sure he'd be that popular around these parts though because, IMO, he's Brian Lee 2.0 (with a slightly less efective first pass).

Does that really lower his value though? To me it just sounds like he is worth more than a 4th.

If they cant play him they will have to waive him... not this season but next... I guess they could hope for more value by September

The Yotes do have crazy depth on D. They also have a Dziurzynski and a Stone. Maybe something could be worked out to send DD from Bingo to Portland for Michael Stone. I haven't seen Stone play but his numbers, size and limited NHL experience all look good.

Maybe..

OTT:
David Dziuzynski
Pat Cannone
5th

PHX:
Michael Stone

It'd be like Staal joining the Canes or Schenn joining the Flyers but at the same time and with, you know, much, much, much worse players.

Never thought about that. Nevertheless I would love to pick him up.

Clutterbuck and Scuderi would make me excited.

That is all.

Truly insane depth you gotta think with Gormley and Rundblad coming up that a guy like Yandle might be available. They are so thin upfront too, too bad the sens dont have anyone to deal. Would you guys do a deal around Michalek for Yandle?

I fully expect Murray to acquire a top 4 dman. Sens management knows the importance of having a strong year. Don't shoot the messenger, but heard through the grapevine that Murray has had conversations with Dallas about Robidas.

Sounds pretty fair, and I hope we can get a top 4 dman, but I'd rather not give up Michalek right now. I think we need him. Without Michalek:

Slif - Spezza - Alfie
Lats - Turris - ??? (either a rookie or someone from the bottom six)

Unless I'm thinking of someone else, Michalek for Yandle sounds like a steal..

Imagine that, EK and Yandle running the power play... We'd be brutal..

Throw in Letang and Green on the second pair and we'd be winning Stanley's year in year out...

Greening held his own in the top 6 last year. Not his ideal place, but I would be comfortable with him holding the fort until Zib or Stone were ready

I'm a pretty big Michalek fan so I might be a bit biased, but he put up 35 goals and 60+ points last year. I'd like to see if he can keep it up.

I would rather keep Michalek too, but he is one of the more expendable guys (that can get a good return)

How? We have 3 great forward prospects (one won't be a prospect for long though). A #1 and a #2 centre, 2 other top 6 wingers, and bottom 6 winger that has a year of top 6 experience, and put up almost 40 points as a rookie. Bringing in Yandle for Michalek would round out our top 4 defence for the future, without doing too much damage to our top 6.

Yandle-Karlsson
Cowen-Ceci

Silf-Spezza-Zib/Stone
Greening/Lats/UFA/trade-Turris-Zib/Stone

Same, I'd love to get Robidas cheap.

As for Del Zotto, I'd blow my load but it would cost wayyyy more than MZ. Don't think a team is going to give up a young dman of his calibre for cheap just because of some silly cap issues, especially with Glen "I ****ing got rid of Scott Gomez" Sather making the moves.
