This is a pretty good trade actually. Rangers didn't give up any of their prime young pieces but got a top defensemen to play with Murphy and a top line forward for a struggling 16 year old giant and a physical but questionable defensively defensemen.

And they upgraded their import pick to boot.

Sounds like Vienneau is starting and here are the projected D pairings

Quote:
Josh Brown ‏@BrownRecord
Recently acquired goalie Joel Vienneau to start for Kitchener Rangers tonight vs Guelph. Frank Corrado and Josh Leivo will be in the lineup.

Frank Corrado will line up next to Ben Fanelli. Ryan Murphy and Evan McEneny form the other top d-unit in Kitchener. #OHL

Is Ben Fanelli known more for defense or offense?

He is more of a defensive player. Does get PP time pending on lineup.

Also for you Nucks fans, sounds like McEneny and Corrado will pair up tonight.

a think theyll get back into it once healthy and chemistry clicks

Fanelli is a hard-working, strong skating player who looks like he should rush more, but stays at home. He'll allow his partner to dabble in the offence more.

Kitchener Rangers ‏@OHLRangers

GM Steve Spott announces trade with Petes that will bring OA forward Derek Schoenmakers to Kitchener. Full release to follow.
Guess we've seen the last of Czinder.

Edit: Gone to the Petes. Thank you jeebus.

If I am Kitchener I would move Czinder,Alberga better skater who can check and piss people off
Czinder would be useless as a 4th liner-20 year old

hhhhmmmmm

wakie wakie Mark lol

Another addition for the Rangers, who are adding depth to there underacheiving but potentially dangerous F group. Things getting interesting AGAIN in the West conf. Esp the tough midwest.
The div and 1st seed maybe outta reach but the POs should be fun!

So tonight we will have Murphy and Rieder, Gibson on the bench if needed, and all the new acquisitions (at this moment). Anyone have an update on Puempel's injury status and when he is back?

Lineup guesses?

They're being tight-lipped about Puempel, but from what I'm hearing, it won't be in the next week and a half. Faksa is likely to return for the game on Jan. 18th. That's the current word, but subject to change.

For tonight, I'm guessing:

Rieder-Marcantuoni-Leivo
Thomson-Alberga-Schoenmakers
Llewellyn-Sterk-Bailey
Pedersen-Meighan-Ming

Fanelli-Corrado
McEneny-Murphy
Gilbert-Iafrate

Vienneau
Moylan

Well, two minutes after posting my guesses, Josh Brown posted this from Ranger-land:

Tobias Rieder-Matia Marcantuoni-Josh Leivo
Ben Thomson-Domenic Alberga-Derek Schoenmakers
Brent Pedersen-Josh Sterk-Eric Ming
Darby Llewellyn-Curtis Meighan-Justin Bailey

Ben Fanelli-Frank Corrado
Evan McEneny-Ryan Murphy
Jared Gilbert-Max Iafrate

So I was darn close.

(On a sidenote, looking at this roster and what Spott has done, I don't think there's any way he stops without getting another centre.)

Thanks!
Hoping for another centre as well.....Trocheck or Quine would look good in Ranger blue

Question to the Rangers fans- If Faksa comes back which seems very likely and Spott doesn't win with this roster does he deserve to be fired?

Anyone else have the feeling Spott is about to ride into the sunset after this season, regardless of how they finish? The team next year will be weaker than in 2009, outside of the OA's.

But to answer your question, I'd say yes.

Has the same feeling as it did just before Deboer left.

I know in sports a contract is made to be broken but didn't Spott just sign a new 5 year contract this summer with no "out" clause?

Can anyone watching the game tell me what happened with Thompson and Pedan both getting Instigator penalties on what appears to be the same fight according to the game summary on OHL.com?
