Wow, you're offering an awful lot for a 35 year old rental player. I think Washington should hang onto those two kids. I really like their future with Ovechkin, Backstrom, Carlson, Alzner, Holtby with Kuznetsov and Forsberg also getting in there. I don't think you should throw that away for one shot at the Cup this year with Alzner and Carlson not yet in their prime.

I think if he can be dealt, it will depend heavily on where Iginla would go, and then you would have to see what you can get.

If Los Angeles has key injuries (and/or underperformers...we had both last year), that may be a destination he would go to...for a shot at the Cup.

Never going to happen.

Fans and management will keep him to the very bitter end. They will never do the smart thing and trade him, Kipper, Glencross and Tanguay for pics and rebuild.

Don't bother.

It certainly feels that way, especially with the signings they did this offseason and the money they have committed.

I think it'll be a good, younger player (probably max 26) who is established as an NHLer + a 2nd or 3rd best prospect from your team (This isn't exact, as all farm systems are different, but something like this) and then conditional picks, based on performance and resigning.

Definitely expect the Pens to be in on a 90 degree angle if Iginla is willing to move.
I'd hope so. I'd be open to adding. What package would you think we'd have to give up for Iggy?

Would probably be Poulliot/Morrow + Bennett +2nd?
Maybe too steep though but the interestingly enough they could probably afford to do it.

Upgrade 2nd to first if resigns.

As both a Flames and Bruins fan I would love to see Iggy on the B's and Calgary get a decent return. What kind of trades can be built around the following:

Iggy for Subban,
Iggy for Hamilton,
Iggy for Spooner.

The Flames will need to a lot in the Hamilton deal...

Easy no. Not terrible for a rental, but there will be better prospects available than Gaunce.

This is amazing. The Flames couldn't/wouldn't turn this down at the deadline... Don't see Washington giving up that much though? Maybe... They are desperate to win a cup with their current core.

If the Flames are out of it come trade deadline and Washington is in the thick of it and could use a player that can take them over the top then they will do it because their GM will be desperate cause he will be on the hot seat, if Feaster can somehow convince George McPhee(highly unlikely) then He might just do it. Jarome might be 35 but he still has 5-6 years of 30 goals 70 point seasons. He won't be a rental they will sign him.

This is the perfect and absolute right time to move him. His value will never be higher and the return will never be better.

I acknowledge that if the Flames trade him there chances for the playoffs are very low.

But this is a 48 game season and teams that maybe on the bubble to get in the playoffs will be desperate to acquire talent. Also Iggy is still playing at an elite level but regressing every year, his production will only go down and reduce the return.

I believe that many teams have a good stable of prospects in which theyd be willing to part with. Also the 2013 draft is supposedly deep, if they could get a 1st rounder they could get a very good player. And they will pick better with a reduction in point totals.

I could see a good 2nd liner (or good prospect) and a 1st and some other mix of picks/prospects that arent as significant

I personally see him going to the Pens for Despres,1st,3rd

Nice post. Don't think they would take a D-man, I maybe wrong. I see him going to Philly or Washington cause those two teams want to win a cup really really bad .

Kovalchuk/Hossa is the benchmark you're looking at. So quantity over quality. I'd argue at the time they had more value than Iginla does now.

Even teams that don't want Iginla would top that.

Lol! Must still be in CBA negotiating mode! Start with low ball offer 😉 I'd be willing to add Clifford and Richardson!!

If a team acquired Jarome Iginla at the deadline without an extension he would be a rental. Right now Jarome has one year left on his contract, so yes, he would be a rental.

I see Pittsburgh as the most likely destination. Plenty of quality prospects available.

If Iginla is available, he would be the #1 guy I would want Shero to pull in. He's played with Crosby before and they would tear it up. I'd be willing to part with any prospect except for Morrow or Bennett for Iginla.
