What's the bet we are one of the four teams not playing on the 19th.

Devils will be at the Garden is my prediction, now that the Winnipeg rumor apparently got debunked. I think they want to load Opening Day with rivalry games and that's an ECF rematch. I'll go with this and try to predict the whole schedule:

Devils-Rangers
Flyers-Pens
(no Isles)
Bruins-Habs
Leafs-Sabres
Sens-Jets
Caps-Canes
Panthers-Lightning

Wings-Hawks
Edmonton-Calgary
Wild-Stars
Kings-Sharks
Canucks-Avs
Blues-Predators
(no Ducks, Phoenix, CBJ)

Could be. Apparently Ottawa plays Winnipeg.

also, like last season some good betting odds for devs on the cup. im in for 50 easy when i see trash like the sabres or leafs with 'better odds'.

I wouldn't be surprised. Probably the best way for them to maximize eyes on TVs and butts in seats... taking advantage of all the big rivalries out there.
I could also see Kings-Yotes, Canucks-Sharks with Avs on the sideline as well.

Not mathematically possible for 4 teams to not play on the 19th. It will only be 2 teams sidelined

As in the proposed schedule above... 3 in the west, 1 in the east will get you 4 teams out.

not playing the 19th is like how we were the last playoff series to start. not fun.

It's gotta be opening against the Rangers for us. When I saw Winnipeg, and Ottawa I knew right away we'd probably get the Rangers. Flyers will probably get the Pens too as was already predicted.

Right, brainfart on my side. Still think there will be 14 games unless there's an arena conflict.

I'd be okay with it. It would give me a day to warm up by enjoying some other games. Either or doesn't bother me though. I just remembered it was MLK weekend, and my buddy from Denver will be here visiting me with his family that whole weekend.

Tickets for the first game might be cheaper at any arena. Devil fans should make the trip to the Garden!

Devils Rangers will alway be more expensive than face value, especially at the Garden.

Just a guess we will open vs Carolina.

The Rangers will open vs the Islanders

Right now, we have just as good as a defense as the Rangers if not better, and our depth is far, far, far superior to there's.
Not sure if serious...

Why are 3 western teams sitting?

Depth-wise the Devils defense is light years better than the Rangers'. I wonder if they'll continue to start Bickel and Eminger in Stanley Cup playoff games this season again.

If they're going to try and get 13 games in on one day (from the rumblings, it seems like they are), and networks want to fight tooth and nail for ratings... it's going to have to be teams in later time zones that will sit.

But why are three teams in the same conference sitting when two can play each other? You're easily getting 14 games in.
