I didn't say GM's won't give out huge contracts to players in the future. Or that they haven't in the past.

I said if Luongo was a UFA tomorrow, nobody's giving him that contract.

I'm not going out on a limb with that statement. It's commonly accepted that he has a terrible contract.

Explain how it is horrible to any team that takes it on now.

You invest $5mil in Luongo and it hurts your chances to sign guys like Connolly, Komisarek, Liles etc...

The worst thing about potentially acquiring Bozak is that he's a god damned UFA at the end of the year.

So what your saying is that Luongo is not the _caliber_ of a player like a Hossa or a Kovalchuk? Is that what you are saying? Or he is not the caliber of player the likes of Lundqvist or Miller or Rinne? Because those are his peers. He's not a medium asset. He's a high end asset. That's why he got the contract he got.

It's commonly accepted that it's a terrible contract? Can you tell me why Bettman is punishing a terrible contract? If they were terrible, why would they be attacked the way they have? It seems the common perception, which I don't agree that it is common, needs to be re-evaluated in that case.

It is if you're Mike Komisarek's agent.

Because he's a 33 year old player, currently at the lowest point in his career and still signed for almost another decade.

If he and his contract are such a high end asset why are there only two teams who have any interest in trading for him?

Luongo's last 2 seasons are statistically the best back to back years of his career.

There have apparently been up to 5 teams looking at acquiring Luongo.

I agree. If we are taking back a Pending UFA and if it is true Weiss is on the table, I'd much rather have 4 months of him than 4 months of Bozak, who has already chosen not to sign in Vancouver once.

Lou wants to go to Florida and their package or potential package is much more attractive than Torontos is at the moment (well the common ones on this board at least). Seems like a good match. I'm hoping this Toronto talk is just for trade leverage in negotiations with Florida.

Yet, despite that, he somehow still managed to lose his job to a rookie.

I'd call that a low point.

Have you seen Schneider play? IF he can keep up his play over an entire season, I'd put him in the top 3 for goalies in the league. He's with Lundqvist and Quick. Hell, I'm sure Quick was partying hard with Richards/Carter during the offseason after the cup win. I could see Quick slipping a bit.

Or maybe it tells you how good Schneider is.

Schneider's a great goalie and so is Luongo.

Doesn't change the fact Luongo is at a low point in his career and he comes with a ton of risk for the team acquiring him. This is why, if you trade him, I don't see you getting full value in return.

Anyway nice chatting with you, looking forward to seeing what happens.

Also, it would be annoying to acquire two guys who were signed as college FA's less than 3 years ago and were available to everyone.

I would too if there was a goalie on the planet that had better numbers than Cory Schneider has posted over the last 2 years.

Honestly, i dont know why you all keep pushing the boulder up the hill...

"his contract is terrible"
"he lost his job"
"he's aging and in decline"
"he's a choker"

These are the relentless refrains that leaf hordes will roll out over and over lest and shred of logic dent the fantasy that theyre going to get an allstar for peanuts.

Against my better judgement I was at it again myself on the T&R board, when some dude pretending to be a hot chick posted some rumour about bozak and a prospect and the hordes went nuts for 6 pages.

Its exhausting and tedious.

Didn't hear any of this garbage during the lockout.

Now a small part of me wished the lockout resumed.

Take out Luongo and I'd consider it, but I really don't think we have room on our top line for Bozak.

Chicago, Edmonton and Columbus. Apparently there was another team as well. I believe there were 5 or 6 teams that have shown interest.
