Yes, but players of his sort can have stretches where they don't put up a lot points, since the play never runs through them. Homer was the same. The 12 game sample doesn't say much. We're not really questioning his ability in front of the net are we?

Seems like a great lineup. My only hickup is Edler, I'm not sure if you went with any specific order on the D, but is Edler the first guy to make your team on defense? I think Edler would be a second pairing with me, along with Kronwall, probably placing OEL and Erik Karlsson as the first pair. Details, but it got me curious.

Also, I think Hedberg has announced that he's retired from the national team. I think Markström, or more likely, Lehner will be the most suitable back-up next year.

A nose for the net? well, he isn't scoring for the national team at least. He's just invisible. I think people include him in the lineup because he scores 20-30 goals in the NHL each year and not a lot of other swedish players do that. But really, he's a ghost when he plays for the national team (and he was really underwhelming in Allsvenskan this year).

Alexander Edler was one of the worst defensemen to suit up for sweden in a senior competition since Rohlin's last WC when he sported the yellowshirt back in 08.

Both should have another shot since they're quality players. Hörnan can't be as bad as Edler was on big ice back then..

How many times have you written about his WC performance back in 08 on here? It was 5 years ago, let it go already Matti! You're like landskronala and the word "grit" when it comes to this forgettable performance of Edler's 5 years freakin' ago.

Yeah. Also, a better example would probably be Patrik Berglund's first WC when people were shouting that they hope to never see him in tre Kronor jersey again. He came back to NT and was best sniper of WC 2 years after that LOL.

Brodin and Klefbom should be in consideration.

I would say a break-out year and some injuries and they are in. Compare with Karlsson, before last season people was not that up in arms about him.

All the younger guys are exciting this year, they do know that they got a slight chance to make the Olympics if they have a more than just good season.

I am still amazed how a player who played in the NHL could have that kind of performance..

Sedin Sedin Landeskog
Eriksson Zetterberg Franzen
Johansson Bäckström Silvferberg
Hagelin Steen Stålberg

Hjalmarsson Karlsson
Kronwall Edler
OEL Larsson

Lundqvist
Enroth
Lehner

I agree with those that said that Hörnqvist shouldnt be on the team he is a very hot and cold player just ask any preds fan. Another reason for not including him are that the forwards are a bit slow we need more speed and grit in this team.

Defence will be fine with lots of options. Hjalmarsson plays a simple game that will suit Karlsson and he have the speed to play on the larger rinks. The weak side will be forwards they are getting up there in age and we dont seam to get any new really good ones.

Same could be said for Hedman last World Champs. Young players, short tournament. I guess.

Not really, just made pairings that make sense. I think his size compliments Karlsson, and I like one young & one older guy. In all likelihood, I'd trust OEL and Kronwall to eat the tougher defensive minutes.

Edler can play big but often he does not for some reason. He is a mostly an offensive D-man who an trap out guys and occasionally lay big hits. Do not trust on him clearing the crease, he is not the guy. Edler and Kronwall could do as a pairing and are rather nasty one too. Karlsson and Edler would be a liability, even if it is rumoured that the K can play the D.

Second or third pairing of say OEL/Karlsson & Kronwall/Edler is just a game of minutes played, it is legit first pairing both of them.

I would say that Edler/Karlsson is the PP unit anyway, also a scary thing to pull up at the pp for any team I would say.

This is a really good team, except I think Landeskog should be up front with the Sedins and Silfverberg on the third. And Enroth>Gustavsson, IMO. And Hornqvist as the 13th forward.

Joel Lundqvist would be another wild card with another strong WC in May. Seems to be a Mårts favorite.
