Funny how Elliott Price and HNIC Radio are both quoted as saying this, but I just searched both Twitter accounts, and nothing. If this was really indeed true, it is "breaking" a huge story in the hockey world and it would certainly be on their twitter feeds. I call BS.
2-3 radio stations have said that Luongo to Toronto is done. We'll find out the weekend if this is true...
I would not be surpised if he comes here. Shannon reported this months ago (being "done") and he is a hell of a lot more respected than any of these clowns talking now. It is the typical case of riding Shannon's coattails to say you "broke" the trade first, a la Eklund. Throw enough s**t al the wall, eventually something is going to stick.
I have yet to see this from one credible source stating it as fact, in print or on the web, in the last 24 hours.
For some reason i highly doubt the Luongo deal is done to Toronto. Im the biggest skeptic of this trade. If Luongo retires at 40 the leafs will have an additional 2m on the cap for 3 years. This (IMO) would drive Burke nuts. I don't feel that Vancouver needs to make this deal right now. Why not wait until the end of the season? With Kesler down, wouldn't a fantastic goalie tandem help the team more then Bozak? Also there is always the trade deadline. No need to rush this thing, unless of course Toronto is by some miracle giving up a kings ransom.

This is something that many people overlook. 2mil per season for a couple years won't mean as much 10 years down the road. Plus, it's far from a certainty that Lu retires before his contract is up anyways (ie: Roloson).

Ya I agree, I'd like to see something in writing confirming this rumour.

Being on twitter isn't going to legitimize it any more than it being said by something like eight different hockey analysts on TV now.... I'm not saying it is legit, but where there is smoke..
Burke said they didn't acquire the rights to Vokun because he wanted a multi-year deal to sign in TO; something the leafs didn't want to do.
He won't give up an asset to just talk to a player.
In the past, he's gotten permission from Pittsburgh and Anaheim to talk to Max Talbot and Justin Schultz. If he had signed either of them, he would have paid for them. But he doesn't give up assets until he signs them. Many GM's work off the same policy.

It's not 10 years, it's 7 years (maybe 6) and the cap is tired to revenue so there is no promise it's automatically increasing every year.

Again, I am sure it is going to happen. I'd say a 70/30 chance, based on Shannon alone. We live in the "now" era. More often than not, you are going to read it on Twitter within seconds of it being said, at least from a legitimate source (think Dreger, McKenzie, LeBrun, etc...)
Again, I have yet to see or hear this from any legitimate source. I can say "Dreger just told me in Starbucks that the deal is done", but it doesn't make it true. That is my point. Not one credible source has said this, besides Shannon in October.
That said, I think it is going to get done. Shannon is very credible.
Leafs have what, one spot open ? Frattin is better and more of a need for the Leafs than Kadri.
This is an issue. Unless you feel Kadri is going to be a center, there really isn't room on the wing. Kessel,Lupul,Kuli,Mac,JVR....i think Kadri can be top 6 and don't want to waste him on the 3rd/4th line. We could dump Mac, but Frattin could fit there as well (physical like Kuli).

you see the NHL sitting at 4.8B(if my math is correct) in revenues in the next 7 years

It has been stated on Sportsnet TV, by multiple people that it is done. Millard... hell I can't remember who has stated it, but we are above six people on Sportsnet alone who have claimed it is a done deal.
Look, it is a rumour, and I'm not sure whether it appears on TV, or on Twitter makes it more or less of a rumour. Even if it was in print, it is still a rumour and nothing more.
