Got back into New Vegas, with one of the DLC's, and now stuck at some part with a couple deathclaws, and they're ****ing me up pretty good.

Finished up Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward a few days ago. I loved it, and so far it's my favorite game from this year (and will probably remain that way).

I knew VLR would serve as the bridge to Zero Escape 3, but I am a bit disappointed with how big of a cliffhanger VLR leaves off on. I thought there was going to be more the ending before I realized I had seen everything there is to see, and I have to wait a few years to see the rest.

I did think it was a bit funny though how many similarities the Zero Escape games have with Ever 17 (a visual novel by the same author). They're all so good though.

Should I play 999 before Zero Escape?

Still playing Galactic Civilizations II. I'm stuck on the 5th or 6th mission but it's enjoyable.

Still NHL 13.

Also playing The Lord of the Rings War in the North. Awesome game and very underrated, in my opinion.

Definitely! I actually liked 999's story a bit more, especially because VLR's plot is reliant on Zero Escape 3 being made, whereas 999's story could stand alone.

They're both absolutely worth playing, but I highly suggest starting with 999. Besides, 999 is the first game in the trilogy, so might as well start there.

Still on Assassin's Creed III, simultaneously enjoying it and getting aggravated by it. Really odd mix.... I think I like it, but I think it's below AC2/R/&B right now and only above the original.

Started The Witcher last week and am really enjoying it. I'm about 8 hours in and just hit chapter 2. I know chapter 2 is supposed to grind quite a bit but I've enjoyed running around doing side quests so far so we'll see if I really care about how slow it can drag.

Just finished up Bioshock 2.

Now figuring out what I should play next (Borderlands, Resident Evil 5 or Fallout New Vegas)

RE5 will be the shortest with NV and Borderland taking 50+ hours depending on what side quests you do. So, I would play RE5 first, otherwise you might forget about it later

Yeah, but if they play NV and Borderlands first then maybe by the time they finish those they'll have other games to play before RE 5 and never have to suffer through that trash.

Chapter 2 and 3 are also the best parts of the game, despite the grind. Exploration, interesting story that finally starts to open up, quests, monster variety, important dialog. And a fair bit of the grindy stuff is optional anyway. Chapters 1, 4, and 5 are much more railroaded and less interesting.

Good to hear! I did play a little bit of chapter 2, only one sidequests after getting out of the sewers, but that one sidequest was already more interesting than the majority of the side quests in chapter 1.

Got Spec Ops: The Line on Yahtzee Croshaw's recommendation. The game play feels a little clunky and is overall unremarkable, but the story... wow.

Picked up Dishonored for PS3 right before Christmas on sale and just put it in (I was trying to finish some of a huge backlog). This game is so fun. I've heard people call it short but I just finished the first assassination and it probably took me 3 or more hours as I spent about 1 hr climbing/blinking around and choking out guards. Definitely one of the more entertaining games around right now. I am going high chaos basically by accident (too late to turn it around with 30+ kills i'd say) so it is definitely replay worthy. I will post about it when I am done in the other thread but it has high marks so far.

It is still pretty short. I absolutely loved the game and it's my personal GotY, but the beginning makes the length really deceiving. I tried to do everything and the first two missions had a lot of side stuff to do, I think I was in 7 hours by the end of the first two missions. The remaining 7 took me a combined 5 hours or so.

Still trying to finish the following:

L.A. Noire
Sleeping Dogs
X-Com

and playing a season with NBA 2k13 and a made up Seattle Supersonics team. Wonder if I'll actually start playing NHL 13 now that there will be hockey again??

NBA & X-Com might be my two favorite games of last year.
