I dunno, but the team is in much better shape than it was when he picked it up. Am I wrong here? Im pretty sure they are a playoff team this season.
"Much" better? They've actually performed worse under him than they ever did under JFJ/Fletcher. You can argue that the future looks brighter, but that's what they've said about the Leafs for a decade now. Until the results are there, it doesn't mean much.
I can't understand the timing of this decision. After the off-season, before one season game is played,, If it's because Burke and the upper management doesn't agree on Luongo it would be hilarious. I don't think Luongo is the answer for this franchise. I think they were on the good path for a playoff spot in the near future but giving up a lot of assets for a goalie pretty much kicked out of Vancouver would be a step back IMO. It's just speculation but there has to be a big disagreement.
Because he cannot get him? I'm not well informed on this Luongo Case. Did he proposed a trade? Is he against that trade?
I haven't heard any rumors either but it just seems like with the fit being so obvious (Vancouver practically pushing Luongo out the door and the Leafs in desperate need of a competent #1 with unlimited spending money) that the only reason it wouldn't be done by now is that Burke doesn't want to do the deal.
