Jesus, what is up with MLSE teams? Yesterday, TFC hires a coach that can't coach until May/June because he still plays in the English Premier League while the training camp starts this month. Then this today. Incredible.

Great, now we have to listen to the little bald nutsack sell himself again. How annoying.

Well what do you expect, he hasn't won a game yet this season.

I've always said Burke is extremely overrated and not that good of a GM but firing him like that is bush league. It must be unsettling to be a Leafs fan right now.

As for his legacy? Outside the mistake that was the Kessel trade he at least shifted the mentality of the Leafs from ''overrated old fart's club'' to ''young team'' which is good in itself. My guess is that Burke seriously considered tanking next season to get MacKinnon or Jones and the idea was denied.

I bet the owners aren't too happy that Anthopolous managed to turn the Blue Jays into World Series favourites over the summer while Burke has constantly made them a bubble team.

Well at first he made a number of bad trades and atrocious signing like the Kessel, Versteeg, Kubina trade, Komisarek and Finger signing but he's been better lately with the Lupul, Gardiner trade and the MaCarthur signing. I still can't make my mind on the Phaneuf trade because he gave some good players and Phaneuf hasn't live up to the hype yet IMO but he's still a good D. His worst mistake IMO is his incapacity to find a good goaltenders. Gustavsson, Giguere, Toskala and the list goes on and on.

Considering the timing, my bet is Dave Nonis becomes GM. Only thing that bothers me about this is the Leafs might tank the season now.

Mark Spectors tweeted that Burke didn't want Luongo, but mostly everyone else did.

CBC should hire Burke and team him up with Don Cherry on coaches corner. What fun that would be to listening to these 2 grumpy old men every week..

It must be about Luongo - nothing else makes sense for this year.

Burke finally gets to use the rule he's been pushing for in trading cap with a player... and he immediately gets fired.
