I wouldn't be surprised if we're on a 2pm or something like that. The Leafs will get 5 and the Canucks will get 8.

Hopefully they give the BOA 8pm.

If I'm not mistaken it looks like the Jets are playing the Senators on the 19th in the afternoon, so I imagine that CBC will have that game nationally, then Canadiens v. Maple Leafs at 5, then Oilers Flames at 8.

At least that's what I hope.

That would be nice.

I can see Paajarvi being the first call-up and likely sticking around for a game or two early in the season depending on his performance.

Say what? How do you even go away thinking this? The guy was coming off a serious injury that required surgery and he had to get into playing shape.

"style of play?"- You mean a skill game? I guess you're used to "bash the puck into the offensive zone and skate straight towards the boards" style.

I swear, the hate for Hemsky on this board is amazing. That's an asinine statement as I've heard.

Is the old line of

94 - 10 - 83

a good idea this year?

or a bad idea?

I like the idea of keeping Horcoff away from the younger studs but I am nervous about killing Hemsky's mojo.

Harti/RNH/Eberle
Hall/Horcoff/Yakupov
Smyth/Gagner/Hemsky

Harti brings some much needed physicality to the first line. Yakupov is able to play in his natural position and Horcoff can provide some defensive stability to the line while being able to take crucial faceoffs as well. The third line is able to provide a bit of scoring touch and Smyth gives the line some grit

Hemsky played in the WHC and in Czech.

This is the first time in a LONG time, he's played hockey after the season. This is probably the most excited i've been to see how Hemsky will produce

Horcoff with Hall and Yakupov? A guy that can't pass to save his life with two of our best goal scorers?
No thanks

Well he's pretty good defensively and he's good on faceoffs. RNH is horrible on the draw and Gagner is average at best. If you don't have a guy who is good on faceoffs then you're going to be hemmed in your own zone and it gives the other team a huge advantage. Plus Yakupov needs a defensive player on his line to make up for his lack of defense. Horcoff provides this.

you are not going to convince all the Horcoff haters around here..
As per HF Oil... Horcoff is garbage and someone like Reasoner or Arcobelo would be a big upgrade.

Here's a sneak peek at Dubeys new paint.

I actually have a bigger issue with Hall and Yakupov on the same line than with Horcoff being on a line with either of them, but I'd just as well not do either.

That's pretty cool. Kinda like a combination of his other two.

I still say Roloson had the best masks of all Oiler goalies in the last 2 decades.

Hall and Yak should rarely be on the same line. Both are good stretch pass options that find open ice and that can transition play north. They both tend to be the type that require only an outlet pass and they do the rest off the rush. A line with Hall and Yak together wouldn't have puck possession enough. It would be a quickstrike offence but its needs a QB or two.

Nuge is below average on faceoffs, but he's done a good job improving in that area. I believe he was at or above 50% in the AHL.

It was a good line with good chemistry 5 years ago, however (if I recall correctly), whenever they were stuck on the same line last year they didn't do so hot. I'd consider maybe trying it out for a game or two, but if it doesn't work out keep them apart.

I would bet they both come up for camp, but stay with the Barons for now to get in a few more games.

Same here. I'm salivating at the thought of him setting up Yak's one timer all year

He didn't seem too impressive in the WJC's but there are no stats to verify that.

Damn, can't wait to see that mask in action. I love that his mask is evolving, not just a new design.
