I forgot about the new compensation rules. I was hoping we could do with Loney what we did with Billy Wagner in 2010. Wagner signing with Atlanta got us 2 extra picks in the 2010 MLB Draft - the 20th overall pick ( 2B Kolbrin Vitek ) and the 39th overall pick ( Pitcher Anthony Ranaudo ). Not a bad return for a guy that we got from the Mets for 2 spare parts ( Chris Carter and Eddie Lora ) and that only pitched 13.2 innings with the Red Sox.

Jim Bowden on ESPN Insider thinks Boston should trade Bogaerts, Barnes, and Jacobs for J. Upton.....I'm sure I'm not the only one here who wouldn't even consider that. When will people realize the Upton's are overrated?

They are, but not as overrated as the Red Sox prospects...

to get a draft pick for a departing player he has to be on the same team the entire season and you have to offer him a 1 year qualifying offer worth the average of the top 125 salaries in the game. it's about 12 million.

Marlins Will Listen On Giancarlo Stanton

Quote:
In the wake of the Marlins' blockbuster deal with the Blue Jays, the Marlins publicly stated that they wouldn't trade Giancarlo Stanton. Assistant General Manager Dan Jennings says that the club isn't shopping the right fielder, but they will listen to all offers for him, according to Jim Bowden of SiriusXM (on Twitter).

The BBWAA is a group of archaic ignoramuses who do not have their finger on the pulse of baseball. It is wrong for players to use roids, sure, but it's alright for players to be in who didn't play against blacks and latinos (players over a 50 year span, nonetheless)? Eat a brick, you self righteous clowns.

****ing Aaron Sele got a vote today. So did Shawn Green. These people have no clue what they are doing

Pretty much. Steroids weren't a few players doing them and being worlds better than everyone else, it was a freakin entire era of baseball. Keeping guys like Bonds and Clemens, who are arguably the best EVER, is pathetic. You are right though, the BBWA are a bunch of self righteous clowns.

Eh...borderline at best. He hit .300 with a bunch of steals. Hit triples fairly frequently, but eh. Didn't break 3000 hits. Good player, and a catalyst on those Indians teams in the 90's, but not great. I wouldn't vote for him.

Same here with Sosa and McGwire, but ultimately I put Sosa in over McGwire.

I can't even fathom an argument for why this would be true.

I wouldn't put either in, but in no way can I imagine an argument for Sosa over McGwire.
