Well, those "good moves" were obviously not enough to even get the Leafs into the playoffs, which is truly pathetic and a testament of the big failure that Burke has been with the Leafs.

Dave Nonis-- miss the playoffs= Interim Gm.
Dave Nonis-- makes the playoffs= Burke was a bum, Nonis long term, brilliant decision.

Thank God for Leafs Nation, it takes the focus away from us.

Burke is heavily overrated GM. Never understand hype around him.

Sportsnet interviewing a concussed Jake Gardiner right now.

Oh wait, Burke's regime insisted he wasn't concussed, just that he had symptoms...Heh...

Burke's trade for Phaneuf was brilliant, his trade for Kessel, not so much.
The Kaberle trade was meh.

Imagine the Leafs with Seguin, and Hamilton?

I think Burke encapsulated his philosophy best when he said Leafs Nation will not tolerate a long rebuild, that was his fatal flaw.

Or, not trading for Luongo, I hear management wanted him.

Don't forget the deal with the Ducks trading away Beauchemin for Lupul and Gardiner which was a great deal for the Leafs

His UFA signing have been brutal and he didn't find them a goalie they have been waiting since Joseph

I think descriding a trade for the "rich man's Sheldon Souray" as brilliant is an exaggeration. Good maybe but not "brilliant".

Better set for the future but I agree, Seguin and who else with no player like Kessel next to him. And Hamilton to be honest i'm still not sold on him

It's only normal they are based in Toronto. When the Habs fired Gauthier and hired Bergevin, RDS didn't really talk about anything else but the changes in the Habs management team and dedicated the day to it

La décision a été prise après que le nouveau groupe de propriétaires de MLSE eut effectué une étude approfondie des actifs de la compagnie et conclu qu'il valait mieux changer des choses au sein de la direction de l'équipe de hockey

I like the part about the study on the subject...

Burke's trade for Lupul and Gardiner was another huge success.

Also, if the Leafs didn't have Kessel to begin with, they may have been even bad enough to secure the 1st overall pick, likely drafting Taylor Hall.

Anyways, let's remember that Brian Burke continued to work despite losing his son to a devastating car accident.

They would have been even worse 2 years ago and drafted RNH instead of Hamilton since they would have been lower in the standings

Has anyone subscribed to the NHL Network and is it worth it?

Not CentreIce but the other channel, the one with NHL on the fly and I think they show a couple of games a week, if I'm not mistaken.

Not sure where this should go but the mods can move it if they want.

The Leafs without Burke's body of work probably pick 1st overall in 2010, 2011 and 2012. That's how god-awful that team really was.

Burke was extremely overrated, but on the whole I think he's a good GM. The Kessel trade get's more hate than it should, given the Leafs got a bonafide star player out of the deal. It was the right trade(got a star), at the wrong time (he should have rebuilt with the picks).

The Beauchemin for Lupul-Gardiner is larceny. That's reminiscent of the Gorges-1st(Pacioretty) for Rivet trade. I can only dream Bergevin could flip a mediocre player like say Gionta for that type of return.

Would that be a bad thing? The Leafs have some nice pieces going forward but would you rather have their prospect pool, or Edmonton's?

As good as Kessel can be, you can't build around him the way you could around Hamilton and Seguin. Would you trade Galchenyuk and Subban for Kessel?

Oh yeah, now the leafs get to have Seguin destroy them for years in their own division. What a winning move! Instead of Kessel they could probably have had Hall and a couple top 5 picks the next two years, brilliant.

Gauthier over Burke everyday of the week, he might not have made big moves but every step Gauthier took was one towards a brighter future, Burke is just flailing in the dark.
