Yup.

Kadri + Bozak + a 2nd shouldn't be on the table... and definitely wasn't with Burke at the helm.

kadri is very significant, Bozak is not really, just because we have Connolly, Grabo, McClement, etc.

By "playoff threat" you mean threat to make the playoffs, right?

Because the Leafs have a ways to go before doing any damage in the playoffs and trading our best young defenseman and only high end potential forward prospect doesn't do anything to excite my hopes for anything past 9th-7th place finishes.

Guess we'll see.

Great. 9th place finishes are spectacular, aren't they?

Aint gettin' Gardiner.
That was before a nuclear explosion obliterated the Maple Leafs' front office.

Give me a break. I've watch this team for over 20 years and the only think I liked about this current regime was their ability to sink or wim on their own...

Now what? It was all a lie? Fire the GM if he won't do what you want? Who wants to be a fan of such a **** franchise?
I've watched the Canucks since 1980 or so. Most of that time they were a complete joke. But I've never once said I wouldn't be a fan anymore. Not when they traded Cam Neely, not when they lost the coin toss for Gilbert Perrault, not when they signed Mark Messier, not ever. Before the Canucks became a decent team in the 2000s, they were the laughing stock of the league. This is a 22 year old defenceman, players come and go.

Stick with them no matter what they do, because that's your team, and when they do succeed it will be that much sweeter.

I think Shannon learned the TOR viewpoint way back when. That _they_ felt that a deal was done if _they_ had offered Kadri + Bozak + 2nd. That's not the VAN perspective though. And it was some time ago, so odds are things have changed in the interim.

I would honestly agree with you there.

But the direction implications of acquiring Luongo at the expense of Gardiner + confuses me even more than Burke did.

We care more about long term success than we do just fighting for a playoff spot this year.

Bob McKenzie just said there is no truth to Burke being fired because he wouldn't trade for Lu.

Exactly it has the stench of Gomez all over it. I have been through this before with trading away young potential players for 33 year old vets to push for the playoffs why can't we do it right for once we have a golden chance to get a high pick and a TON of cap space with a young pool of FA coming up.

So Leafs fans would be content going with Reimer/Scrivens this year? Seriously?

He said it's a popular theory, but he desn't believe it's the reason.

But he has no idea what the real reason why it happened is.

It's not as much the player, it's this damn franchise is never consistent with what they are doing.

I'm not saying since they fired Burke I'm not a fan, or even if they trade Gardiner. It's because they may have fired Burke so some owners of a tele-communications company could make the trade.

What's the point?

Fair enough. I don't agree, but I can see your view. Many in VAN don't view Kadri as a significant piece. Not at the level of a 1st in this draft, not nearly.

And I do think Kadri + Bozak + 2nd was on the table, confirmed by Millard/Shannon, but that it wasn't enough. So I guess we'll see.

I don't see Gardiner as part of the trade anyways, maybe your 1st round pick is in play though.

Personally, I'd rather Van doesn't deal him to Toronto. Bozak/Kadri + other junk doesn't help us much. Having Luongo means we are guaranteed solid goaltending.

Luongo is an impact player. I'd hope something of value was given up to get him.

Kadri while skilled, won't amount to much ...ESPECIALLY in Vigneault's system. Ditto for Bozak. So why throw away a very good asset for that?

No, but we're not happy if we have to give up Gardiner and Kadri. It's once again another quick fix with this franchise. The owners just refuse to let management do their jobs. Every 4 years we get a new GM it's pathetic.

Don't think Mckenzie is reliable at all when it comes to these types of things.

More of a figurehead.
