He would be a good backup, which is important in a compressed season. Not saying he is the centerpiece, just saying he would be worth adding to the deal.

UFA Dan Ellis has been contacted prior to lockout. Would be a pretty decent backup. Really just need a backup to play 8-10 games. Scrivens is Lack to us. Reimer could be interesting, but I doubt Gillis gives up much value for Reimer.

Lots of players through the history of the game have ripped it up in the A only to become busts in the NHL.

Is it not possible that in the end Brian Burke didn't want to break his principals and not trade for Luongo based on the type of contract he signed, since we know Burke said multiple times he hated a contract like that. Maybe he had no problem trading Bozak and Kadri, however in the end he didn't like the term left on Luongo's contract?

Ellis and Roloson are literally knocking down our door for a contract.

Reimer and Scrivens might mean something to someone, but it's not us. If one is included, swell, but the value for the pieces would go _______ + Bozak + Reimer.

Anything is possible. The timing for this is so strange. The board must really want Luongo

Could be, thats the kind of thing I've been thinking...not the value but the ethics or ideals behind it.

Still, I think there'd be another riot if Gillis accepts Bozak+Kadri as the main component of this trade.

If that is true, then he deserved to be fired. If you have a chance to grab a number one goalie at that price you jump on it before the other GM changes his mind.

You have to imagine that if Luongo is coming to Toronto there already has to be a deal in place.

Otherwise, after today's fiasco and the rampant publicity of managements pressure to acquire Luongo he sure as hell isn't coming without a serious payment. There exists almost zero leverage at this point.

True. The timing of his dismissal says he wasn't. The optics of this point to the board wanting Luongo before the season started and Burke not willing to make that happen.

None of us know how Schroeder will adapt to the NHL and for a smaller player his numbers are not exactly spectacular (I know that he wolves are generally a more low scoring team and his linemates affect his totals). Arnott is more or less a joke of an acquisition and a desperate cry for help if he ever gets placed in our top 6.

Pretty sure Bozak is a PKer on Toronto and surrounded with guys like Hansen and Higgins he would do just fine defensively. He is by far the safest bet of the 3 and fills a serious hole for this team

The leverage has definitely taken a hit, but Nonis is no pushover. We'll see.

An offensive minded center. He's not perfect, but I'd much rather him over Bozak.

The guy who is suggesting that that is the likely return says Burke was fired because of how he presented himself publicly not because he wouldn't trade for Lu.
Dreger and Bobby Mac both say he was fired for the same reason.
