Whoa, LOL. I dislike Burke, but he knows how to build a hockey team, IMO. He should've stayed with Anaheim.
I am not a fan of Burke also but according to David Pagnotta from the
4thperiod.com : “Last season, Burke turned down trading Grabovski to Chicago for a 1st & prospect, and rejected a 1st RD pick for MacArthur from another team”
If...and I say ''IF'' those rumours are true, we know what to expect if one day, we trade Stastny.

Does he? I don't think that's a given. In his two stints as GM prior to the Toronto job, he inherited clubs that both had decent pieces on the roster and in the system. He deserves credit for the big moves he DID make to vastly improve those rosters (the Sedins in Vancouver and Niedermayer/Pronger in Anaheim were probably his best moves) he did not "build" those teams.
He was given the authority and the money to do as he pleased in Toronto, and most importantly, he was given the biggest spotlight in the hockey world. And he promptly screwed it all up. I'm still baffled as to why he didn't take a more patient approach...it's possible he's just not capable of it, or he grossly underestimated just how badly the Leafs had been mismanaged prior to his arrival. Oh, and he promptly made the same exact same mistakes that ultimately ended his tenure in Vancouver--he stayed loyal to a lousy coach and saddled the team with unreliable goaltending.
He bailed from Anaheim at the right time, and I don't blame him for doing so. Samueli was being indicted, the money was drying up, and things were going south in a hurry.

Both of those dont seem as appealing as you would think, I bet those werent high firsts and that prospect from CHI wouldnt have been Saad I bet. OTOH he could have packaged everthing together to get another top 10 pick.
So I was thinking that if we had to trade ROR I'd like to something like this
COL trades
ROR
Jones
one prospect Elliot, Barrie, Siemens etc
one roster D who isn't EJ lets say Wilson
2nd 2013
1st 2014 if needed
for
PHX
Yandle
Hanzal
Korpikoski
The Avs give up the best player in ROR and I think he would work perfectly in Phoenix with their style of play
it gives the Avs a top 9 of
Lando-Stastny-Mcginn
Hejduk-Duchene-PA
Korpikoski-Hanzal-Downie
and a top pairing D of
Yandle-EJ
it also give Pheonix a top 6 of
Boedker - ROR - Doan
Vrbata - Vermette - Jones
and the D would still be good with
OEL - Michalek
Wilson - Klesla
Morris - Elliot/Gormly

I think it works for both teams pretty well
Take out Korpikosky and Jones and its not terrible. The 1st in 2014 would be overpayment though. I think Oreilly + Elliott + 2nd for Yandle + Hanzal is a good deal for us. I don't know a whole lot about Hanzal but from what I hear he's very underrated so the Yotes likely wouldn't like this deal. Maybe Boyd Gordon instead of Hanzal if they value Hanzal more.
Speculation that the Canes could be looking to move Pitkanen and/or Mcbain.
Would be interested in both of those guys personally. Mcbain in particular still has top pairing potential IMO and would be a good offensive guy to pair with EJ.
Sounds like they're wanting picks/prospects for them to, which means we could keep our centers and still get our Dman.

Hanzal is a bigger O'Reilly without the insane offensive potential. Probably a 40-50 point prime season. Definitely too rich for Phoenix.

06 Draft! Quick somebody call Sherman!
I would love to bring in McBain, but I'm not sure if we would be willing to part with the pieces Carolina would be looking for. It would probably have to be a 1st + a good prospect.
If O'Reilly doesn't get signed and stays in Russia for the season or if he does get traded for a defenseman, what do you guys think about signing Arnott to be our #3C?
Radar wasn't as dominant defensively as Hanzal. Better two way player, not as good defensively yet, and they're giving up Yandle for Siemens and a first as Wilson would be a bottom pairing guy for them. Phoenix would absolutely pass on that.

Ive always liked him, he'd provide some good veteran leadership, I'd give him a year

Anyone know about Langkow? Is he any good anymore?

I don't think he has enough left in the tank, in my opinion.

last i saw of him, he looked terribly slow. I doubt he could keep up with our teams pace. Have a feel if ROR, got moved maybe they'd give malone a chance to fill that role, before signing or trading for a 3c.
