I think part of our defence being so weak is all those "flyer" picks that we chose over the last few years. Anyone know if there are any dmen we could have used on this team that was picked after one of our flyers?

I really don't think he will do a deal...I think he's trying but I will be to late and if he does acquire a D he will scramble to find one in the last hour so that we don't have Bowen and Bateman both on the back end at the same time.
I have to assume that the pick for Posa is either being included in a deal for a dman or is replacing a pick that was being included for a dman, otherwise I really don't understand that deal. All of yesterday's trades I understood and could get behind, but after improving our scoring, I really don't get this move to weaken our defense. The only other option is if one of the US kids (ie. Exactly that...something was going down and very soon. I don't know what's happened, whether the deal is on the burner or if something happened at the last second (that's happened before...literally called and told "post this!"...only to have it canceled at the last second). You don't trade Posa for a 4th rounder after trading for Aleardi and Giftopoulos and have Boughner taking about NEEDING to make the play-offs, so something is definitely up. It better be. I mean I know the OA trade deadline was today, but unless you had a deal all but signed, you don't make the trade. There was reason why we needed that 4th rounder. I assume because the 3rd rounder we have this year is part of a deal and thus we wouldn't have a pick in any of the first three rounds.
We don't need the four second rounders we have in 2014 to rebuild, because if we don't host the Mem Cup, then we sell off Vail, Sieloff, Rychel, Johnson, Clarke and whoever else isn't named Ho-Sang or Sanvido next year for picks and young players. So we should use those picks now and acquire a top level player who will return next year as well (another asset to trade if we don't get the Mem Cup, also an asset to sell the committee as having on our roster vs four 2nd round picks we'd say would be mid-season trade bait).
Maybe we're waiting to see what Niagara does with Strome and Co because if they acquire a second rounder this year, it's conveyed to us. A second rounder this year is worth more than a 2nd rounder in 2014. so maybe we have a trade agreed to - two packages and we need to wait and see which one it will be.
Or maybe we have a deal made, but it's a fall back option. Say we have a deal for Koekkoek IF they can't find a better deal. And if they do, then we get Clark Seymour for our 2013 3rd rounder, but if they don't find a better offer than we get Koekkoek for Bateman and three seconds or just for four second rounders in 2014 - in both cases two of the 2014 second rounders would be conditional on Slater coming back next year.

Funny conference both Guelph and Owen Sd have lost 4 straight,Windsor 7,Saginaw has won 3 straight,Sarnia has lost twice in a row and done nothing on the trading front,Erie has been winning alot lately with a goalie not named Dansk,now tied with Windsor
With only one card there is only so much we can be expected to do. Now we also added Khokhlachev for nothing, but he seemed less than enthused in his interview bits today - I hope it was jet lag, otherwise it seems like he was forced to be here by Boston and we could have a Kassian situation where a player wants to play in the AHL more than having a (long) play-off run in the O. A motivated to be here Koko is a top 10 player in the league.
