2013 League Rumors/Trades/Signings Discussion

I'll get it started:

james duthie ‏@tsnjamesduthie
Despite some denials, the tweet earlier from @EnricoCiccone is accurate. The Flyers are interested in Roberto Luongo.

james duthie ‏@tsnjamesduthie
Doesn't mean they are going to get him. Doesn't necessarily mean they'll make an offer. But they've inquired. Could buy out Bryz in June.

adater ‏@adater
Just heard what everyone else heard: Flyers are now players in Luongo hunt. #gameon

adater ‏@adater
Paul Holmgren going in on Luongo big time. Next year, Breezer gets bought out #takeittothebank

Paul Holmgren ladies and gentlemen.

Of course the Flyers are interested in Bobby Lou

They are, after all, the Flyers. That's some bugaboo they've got going on there with Goalies.

Flyers aren't going to be satisfied until they go through every headcase goalie in the universe.

Future budget line in Philadelphia Inquirer: "Holmgren, Flyers coax Tim Thomas out of hockey exile. Luongo pumps replacement's tires after contract bought out."

Holmgren seems to always have his nose where it doesn't belong not too many trades he's won IMO.. I'm sure others will disagree cause of how certain things played out .. heck I'm NO Flyer fan so maybe i forget a couple trades he has won too

Holmgren can basically do whatever he wants - crazy how often he makes over that team.

Funny, but if I were a Flyers fan, I wouldn't care if my goalie thought he was the Emperor Napoleon off the ice as long as he performs on the ice. Headcases ON the ice have been their problem.

Darn

@DNFlyers: Flyers GM Paul Holmgren on Luongo rumors: "That made me chuckle. Safe to say they aren't true. They have no basis or merit."

Wouldn't it make sense for teams to let the Canucks buy him out after the season and sign him to a shorter contract so they won't be on the hook for the cap hit when he retires before the end of his current deal?

Sure, but if I'm the Canucks, I want something for him. If they ask too much, of course, nobody will bite. We'll see what happens.

Could have been floated by the Canucks looking to prop up Luongo's value by creating shadow competition for his services.

True, but I think it's more likely (if it is a rumor) that it was started by someone just for the lulz.

Don't believe Flyers public denials on being interested in Luongo. They're VERY interested

He called the CBA first....

Holmgren told Jeff Carter point blank that he wasn't trading him and then sent him packing.

No doubt, he wants Luongo. He goes after every big name in the market. Kind of pathetic.

Game 7, Flyers at Bruins for East title. Luongo in net for Philly. Suddenly, a Toby Keith song plays. "MY GAWD THAT'S TIM THOMAS' MUSIC!"

Questions surfaced almost immediately in the wake of the Burke firing, especially with Kessel, the player he gave up two first round picks for in a move that haunted his tenure in Toronto.

Many insiders are now wondering with Burke gone, then Kessel may be next to depart. Kessel has two more seasons at $5.4 million (cap hit) each before becoming eligible to be a free agent in 2014-15.
