I'd take Luongo over Bryz but no way in hell i'm giving a roster player better on the chart than Read for him

Like with Carter, Richards, and JVR

That's the JVR special.

I always liked Bulis for some reason. I used to trade for him in NHL all the time.

Exactly.

Canucks fans thinking they are going to get a king's ransom need to realize that if he's not traded by the summer, he will get bought out.

There's no much leverage there.

The more teams interested, the higher the price.

This could be also be a smokescreen by Vancouver to get the ball rolling.

It also doesnt make a lot of sense for us either because we couldnt amnesty bryz until next season.

There's only a handful of possible suitors for Luongo, and even though he's good, I'm not super interested in that contract unless its a cheap acquisition.

I want nothing to do with Luongo not because of his cap hit, not because of his age, but because he's the most mentally fragile playoff goalie I've ever seen. If the series with Boston taught me anything, he gets rattled far too easily.

The only players on Vancouver I would want on this team is Edler or Hamhuis

My master plan, in three acts.

1. Briere for Luongo.

2. Buy out Bryzgalov next summer.

3. Use Briere's $ to make an absurd offer to Alexander Edler.

Krishna, it's a good package for us...except I don't think Edler is going anywhere, he has no reason to.

you would give us your eternal gratitude that we took such a bad contract off your hands.

Otherwise, have fun with your amnesty buyout.

Has there been any talks about what Edler is seeking?

from Adrian Dater:

The Flyers are scheming to figure out a goalie situation as follows...

Keep in mind: this may not work. But the Flyers' thought process as of Wed. night about their goaltending situation is as follows: they trade for Roberto Luongo, then:
1. Secretly hope that Ilya Bryzgalov retires to the KHL right away.
2. But with his huge contract making that about a 1% chance of happening...
3. Just barely sneak Luongo's $5.3 million cap hit under the cap level of $70.2 million for this season, and go with a goalie tandem for this short season of Luongo-Bryzgalov. This assumes that Chris Pronger's nearly $5 million cap hit comes off the books this year, because of LTI relief. (Long Term Injury).
4. If they don't win a Stanley Cup with that tandem they...
5. Buy out one of the two contractually. That leaves the other standing as the No. 1 guy, and then they can worry more about getting under the $64.3 million cap for next year.

Bottom line: don't be fooled into believing that the Canucks have a lot of leverage in any trade for Luongo. He's an older goalie who has the same general level of non-success in the playoffs as Bryzgalov. But the fact is: the Flyers now deeply regret signing Breezer to the deal they did. They will publicly proclaim their faith in him still. But their eyes didn't deceive them: he was brutal in the playoffs, and much of last year's regular season. They are tired of his Rodney Dangerfield act in many ways.
They are very curious what it will take to get Bobby Loo on their roster, and what it will take to make it work

No talks specifically, but I don't see Edler going anywhere. If he doesn't resign shortly, he will before he becomes a UFA. Only way he's leaving Vancouver is via trade, and I'd have to think it'd be substantial - UFA or not. Personally, I think they'll buy out Ballard and use that money to pay for Edler's next contract.

Though, Timo plays left side right? We already have 5 of those on roster. Personally, I've had my eye on Voracek, Simmonds, and Hartnell for awhile but I doubt Hartsy is available for what we'd have to give though I'd love to have him.
We can begin to include those names when you include edler.
