What did you get back for Richards and Carter, who were on similar, if not worse, contracts?
You think Richards and Carter who could both play the first line C spot is comparable to an older back up goaltender?

Long was from Couturier or Voracek.
That's gross, man.

Or maybe they realized if they don't give Schneider a chance, then they'd probably end up shipping Schneider off in the offseason? Cory is outstanding and deserved the chance to play in the postseason. This was AV's only chance to see how Schneider would play in a pressure situation with everything on the line. Also, I still think AV regrets starting Luongo in a few of those boston games. This was his chance to not make that same mistake FTR, I wanted schneider to start game 4 in boston. I was pretty pissed off that they started lu.

A gold medal, at home, against a very skilled American team that Brodeur failed to beat, a Jennings trophy, and two Presidents Trophies. Yeah, they haven't gotten us to the promised land, but posting 2 shutouts in the SCF is about as much as you can ask from your goaltender.
I'm much more confident with Luongo's future in the playoffs over Fleury, and that's regardless of the team Luongo is playing behind; Fleury **** the bed in the first round with the healthy Penguins squad that were favoured to win the Cup (before you say Luongo did the same, compare the stats and remember that our top scorer was out for the games he played).

I'm not telling you what to think about Luongo what so ever. I'm basing my comment ONLY on what you've written in this thread. If you don't want people pointing out the hypocrisy of your statements, then perhaps you shouldn't post conflicting opinions in the same thread.
What does having an unfavorable opinion of Roberto Luongo have to do with hating him? I am sorry but I have a very hard time believing that the poster you quoted "hates" Luongo. There are quite a few that are indifferent towards Luongo, some that may dislike him but I highly doubt that anyone "hates" Luongo.

What? Then the rumours floating around here about the Leafs offer cannot be right, because those packages are better than simply Grossman.

By far our best pure defensive d-man on a team that already has a questionable defense. Just doesn't make any sense.

Is he older than Richards and Carter? Check

If he stays on the canucks, will he be a backup? Check

"Back up goaltender" better be in heavy quotes for someone who's never played less than 47 games in a season since his 1st year in Florida...

So much wrong here, there couldn't possibly be a worse comparison.

More accurately would be Crosby is a 2nd line center.

Malkin played more top line minutes
