What's the point here? Send Bryz away so if he retires, his cap hit counts against us...and then Vancouver sends Luongo away so when he retires his cap hit counts against them?

I don't know how the math would work, but isn't it better for both teams to just keep their goalies and buy them out in 2014?

After the season. Sounds like multiple teams want him so it would be smart to trade him and get some assets.

Thanks - makes no sense to me then why Adater is saying that Grossman is the ask, and Brayden Schenn is the backup ask...to me, it seems like BSchenn is the better asset without any debate

Pardon the naivety, but can you tell me more about Grossman? I don't know much about him, and from what I can gather, he seems to be a solid #5-6 defenceman, with little offensive ability. Is he just a rock solid defensive stud?
Yes, in his limited time with the Flyers he is a stud defensive #4/#5 with limited offense. He did an outstanding job on Malkin in the playoffs, until took a cheap shot from Malkin (see below).

But Luongo is tradeable. Bryzgalov is not.

I have an idea.

To Vancouver:

The Klotz

To Philly:

A thank you note from Luongo, with autographed sexy picture.

Exact question I was asking myself.

You don't ask for "just" Grossmann and then if get a 'NO' upgrade the price by asking for "just" Schenn.

It would have to be Brayden Schenn for Luo + (and more credibility comes along if that + is a defenseman.)

Doubt it. Apparently there are teams interested in Luongo, and telling the Canucks to wait until summer before they can make a deal so they can buyout a player or two to make room for Luongo.

That'll fetch a bundled at the Flyers' wives carnival. Easily the most valuable piece of the trade.

This is one of many reasons our city is a great drinking city.

Oh man this has me worried now. No way in hell do I want to ever see Luongo in a Flyers uniform. Id rather just give Bryz another shot this year and if he doesnt work out they can just use their buy out.

Tim Thomas is taking the year off of hockey. We could get his contract for a 4-foot ball made of used pieces of chewing gum, and all we'd have to show for it is his 5mil cap hit. He's actually sorta screwing Boston over, and he's expected to retire after this year to focus on family.

It's a necessity.

If he retires early for whatever reason, do you think it's worth it to Vancouver to be hit with his cap penalty? He still has nearly a decade on that contract.

Are you saying The Klotz has less value than a sexy autographed picture of Luongo?

You really need to examine your value scale.

Bad decent prospects have great value

if it means we can get a few cups in the mean time, then yes. totally worth it.

Doesn't make much sense to me at all..potentially having to move assests for goalies who are relatively similar..

Luongo - 33 y/o - 2.52 GAA career - .919 Sv% career - 60 shutouts

Bryzgalov - 32 y/o - 2.52 GAA career - .915 Sv% career - 29 shutouts

Luongo has better playoff numbers overall but Bryz didn't perform terribly last season given the circumstances. I don't know I just don't like the idea of moving assests for almost no upgrade at the goalie position when we have the oppurtunity to rid ourselves of Bryz in two seasons if we have to.

Actually, he really isn't screwing boston over. They just have to suspend him for not reporting and there goes the money off the cap
