look im realistic and i know it wont happen. the blues have no reason to deal him. and theyd prob say larsson or nothing at all. but i still want to pretend. like when i wear my moms boots and cowgirl hat.
I'm back and curious again (forgive me). I never realized Volchenkov has a NTC. Has talk about trading him just been fans being fans or would the Devils seriously try and trade him with the chances the NTC is waived being realistic?

I think Volchenkov is here to stay, although you never know. Crazier things have happened.
Here's a list of forwards that I think teams might be willing to part with for the right price. They are in the last year of their contracts:
Viktor Stalberg- Chicago Blackhawks
Derek Roy- Dallas Stars
Michael Ryder- Dallas Stars <~~~~ My pick
Sam Gagner- Edmonton Oilers (RFA)
Dustin Penner- Los Angeles Kings
Colby Armstrong- Montreal Canadiens
Ryan Clowe- San Jose Sharks
Joffrey Lupul- Toronto Maple Leafs
Clarke MacArthur- Toronto Maple Leafs
Matthew Lombardi- Toronto Maple Leafs
Mason Raymond- Vancouver Canucks
Mike Riberio- Washington Capitals
Players under contract I'd like to trade for:
Drew Stafford- Buffalo Sabres
I wonder if anyone thinks anyone on this list is obtainable for Greene, Tallinder, Urbom, Volchenkov, prospects, picks...

It's all fan speculation. News like that never actually leaks from Devils offices, and when it does, it's usually suspect.

Most players want a NTC to control where they're traded to, not to actually prevent trades.
I think most guys would rather be guaranteed ice time on a good team, rather than gamble he'll be scratched a lot on a good team. On the other hand, with a shortened year, he may not want to go through the hassle of moving his family with only 1 week before the season starts and in the middle of the school year.

Ryder, Raymond(If cheap) MacArthur(If Clarkson packs it up) Gagner would look really good on this team if we could find someone to trade him for.

Joffrey Lupul- Toronto Maple Leafs
i would be in for them!!!!!!
I think trading Volch for a good Top6 F is necessary

I'm not even sure he's get us a top 6 forward.
Though I would be fine with packaging him or Tallinder, Urbom, a 3rd round pick, and they can have Tedenby if they too.
I wouldn't mind trading a prospect defenseman or two, because it would suck if they don't get a chance to play in the NHL for us since we have so many anyway. They would just walk without any significant NHL experience, or rot in the A.

If you add together various reports for season openers so far, in East you have OTT@WPG, NYR@BOS, PIT@PHI, WAS@FLA, TOR@MTL.
Tom Gulitti @TGfireandice
That leaves Devils, Isles, Buffalo, Tampa, Carolina unaccounted for in the East with either 1 or 3 of those teams being idle on Jan. 19.

As others have guessed, if those other matchups remain same, Devils-Isles seems like natural rivalry match-up for opener. Coliseum available

We've been reminded a few times that the schedule is fluid, so what was reported today, might not be what end up as sked when it's announced
So Devils-Isles could be our opener come January 19th.
I wonder if the Oilers would actually move Gagner. He never got a fair shake in their organization.
Probably not cause they think one of these years they might finally rise from the ashes. And maybe they will, but I'll believe it when I see it.
He would look pretty good here though. I just don't wanna have to give up Yayo, or somebody else we need on forward. They'd probably be more willing to give us Ales Glassky.
It's going to be interesting to see what Toronto does. Do they blow up or do they make trades to contend now? Only player that would really intrigue me is JVR, though.
The big crowd of Devils fans behind Nilsson is great.
I was jumping up, and down, and yelled **** YOU NILSSON **** YOU! after he gave up the first goal to Clarkson. When we took the lead on Zidlicky's goal I started laughing hysterically, and yelled ''Go back to the A you pathetic POS leaning tower of pads jabroni!'' I was here by myself that night. None of my buddies came over, but I had the windows open, and the only had my screen door shut out back. Pretty sure my neighbors heard me. That was the only time last season I screamed so loud the neighbors heard me.
Actually I think a few times during the ECF, and SCF I screamed even louder, but I had buddies over, and the AC was on.

The liklihood of any of these guys coming our way is slim to none. I would however love to get Roy, Clowe, or Raymond.
As much as Lupul would be a great replacement winger for Parise, I'd say we would have a hard time getting Lupul from the Leafs. He was having a monster season with them before he got injured (67 pts in 66 games). Who know's if he's willing to re-sign though, with Nonis at the helm.
On a side note, I can't believe Burke managed to get Lupul and Gardiner from the Ducks for Beauchemin.
Ryder would be the right wing on lines 1 or 2. Ribeiro would allow Henrique to play wing, Raymond could be a third line left wing.
I don't see the Canucks trading anyone though as long as they are cap compliant. They are STACKED this year. Don't forget they added Jason Garrison to the defense.
