Some people here make it sound like if you arn't on the ballot you can't get on to the all-star team at all. It's not like being in a starting lineup is some big deal.

it's a nice idea, but it's a little flawed. what if someone on a team with a low number of season ticket holders really deserves to go? they aren't going to receive many votes from fans of other teams.

it comes down to the same thing that happens now. larger the fanbase or most recognized name gets there.

Why isn't Ladislav Nagy on the ballot?

Because its a joke of a popularity contest ruined by ballot stuffing.

The all star teams should be picked by coaches and take into account the players performance for that season. How can people who arent even playing be considered for an all star game?

Its a farce.

In the end the NHL can add whoever they want anyways.

Again, the ballots are made ahead of time...

But people are still voting for players not playing.

Which is why I suggested coaches evaluate players just before the game and pick them accordingly, not have 2 sad old women in Florida spending weeks filling in forms to get their favourite player in.

I used mine for Datsyuk, who does deserve to at least be on the ballot. But I also really wanted to write in Czerkawski who has done great for the Islanders.

There are so many players on just for name recognition. I mean Heatley and Hatcher are both on. I don't think either of them have done anything great on the ice this season.

Sorry for venting. Just frustrated.
Its a popularity contest in all sports where we fans are allowed to vote.

Do you honestly believe that season ticket holders are the most knowledgable fans? I'm sure some of them are, but a lot of season tickets are scooped up by corporations/companies that can afford them.
