Doesn't your HF boards staff annual bonus, cover you for a New Jersey weekend trip?
Meh. Last Devils game I saw in person was Kovalchuk's introduction against Toronto.
... I could also see Burke as a potential Lou replacement, but I think a front-office gig with the league is more likely for Burke. It depends on who our owner is when Lou retires.
Burke is a student of Lou and shares many qualities including a fondness for US college players. I could think of less shocking moves for a replacement.

After he testified against the Devils in Kovy's case a few years ago, I would find it shocking for Lou/VBK to bring him in.
yes, there is a history between lou and burke. no doubt both are hardheaded and run teams their way. (and as RG said fondness for US college players) the difference is burke's public ego.
lou is status quo and avoids showing real thoughts to the media and runs the team as such from top to bottom.
burke is more of an attention man....."look at me!"
NO THANKS!

Knife in back doesn't come out that easily.
Lou and Brian have been seen together time and time again since that. They're relationship is believed to be fine. The NHL used hardliners against those sorts of deals in that arbitration case and Burke was the most outspoken against such deals it makes sense he represented the league. That said I don't want him here.
I don't think I'd want Burke, but let's see what the options are first when the time comes which won't be for a few years now. I would take Burke over Conte, or Chris Lamoriello, but I doubt those will be the candidates anyway.
I'd almost bet Luongo. I think he'll end up in Toronto, but now I could see him going to Philly like it's been rumored today. They buy out Bryz, and make him their franchise goalie. It would make sense that's what they'd do if they brought him on.
I don't want Burke at all. What has he ever won? That Ducks team made it to the SCF a couple years before he even got there and the Cup was practically handed to him. And he drafts like crap, aside from that whole Sedin trading.
Burke would probably also start bringing in his own coaches too. Carlyle, Allaire, etc. **** that! Don't want those guys anywhere near this team. He's all about the buddy system.

The team won't be run by Devils alums forever. Someday Lou will move on and a entirely new chapter will arrive.

I just don't want those guys near the Devils, and you know Burke will bring them to Jersey like he did to Toronto. We have good coaches here now.
Stevens should be there a while, Terreri should be there a while or possibly Marty takes that role, Pete should be there a while unless he gets a better offer when his contract's up.
I think Lou will be gone before any of those guys are gone so I see them being around awhile. Unless of course a new GM comes in, and starts taking over everything. I think Lou will be able to appoint or at least have a say in his successor personally.
Anyone hear any news/rumors for when Gamecenter Live will become active again? I may be getting ahead of myself considering they still need the players to sign the CBA today and tomorrow, but at this point I'm pretty sure we won't get it for free, so I'll be signing up.
Saturday's 'really' going to be hectic once the dam on all this news (schedule/tickets/CI-GameCenter/other CBA nuggets) finally breaks. Actually it's going to be a nuts week in general once all these transactions start happening.
Burke is a horrible GM. He has his own agenda and completely sticks to his own idea of what makes a good team. Even in the face of overwhelming evidence that players like Colby Armstrong, Tyler Biggs, and Mike Komisarek are not what brings you success.
Someone said they were already charged for Center Ice? I just got my latest statement for DirecTV and still nothing but it had this note;
Quote:
This is a renewal notification for 2012-13 NHL® CENTER ICE®. Because of the NHL labor dispute, you will not be charged until there is a confirmed season start date*. This assures that you will not pay for any missed games. Once a settlement is reached, you will begin to see a charge** for NHL® CENTER ICE® and will be set to enjoy another exciting season. If you wish to cancel, you must do so before the season starts; refunds not available after the season starts.
* Season originally scheduled to start on 10/10/12 but is undetermined at this time pending the outcome of a new NHL agreement.
**2012-13 renewal price was originally 4 payments of $42.95/month. Given the delay in the season and TBD # of games missed, the price will be adjusted accordingly. This amount will appear on your bill once an agreement has been made.

Hopefully a Devils defenseman too!
I don't know how much more steam that rumor will take, but I am not confident in the strategy of "bring in one overrated goalie to replace another overrated goalie."

But, please, think of the rest of us... imagine the quotable goldmine a Bryz/Lu tandem would be. I'm in love with that idea.
