Nicastro steps up and fights Brookbank, a legit fighter. Wasn't awesome but he held his own, good to see.

5 on 3 is hardly going to help many goalies, not putting that one on him at all. He didn't see a thing on that.

Yeah should've just said Griffins since they blew one with McCollum too. They need to tighten up defensively once they get leads, they've been lucky recently.

Does Sheahan think hes some elite goal scorer now or something? He leaves the trash ND system and look what happens!

OMG I FEEL LIKE NOSTRADAMUS OR SOMETHING NOW

I think you were right RW19405... Sheahan is completely dominating on the 1st line with Nyquist. Hopefully Blashill keeps it this way.

Been calling for that one for a while, more than anything just glad to see Sheahan find a scoring touch in the pros. As CJM pointed out a lot of us have taken heat for us believing that was there all along. I thought it was there and wanted to see him with Nyquist because it would be good to see him get with guys that focus on offense but are good enough at defense he doesn't worry about it. He doesn't have that with Pare and Jurco.

Big difference for me was he was going to skate well enough for that line to be even more effective. Andersson has improved there, but Sheahan skates quite a bit better and keeps up the pace with Tatar and Nyquist.

Not to mention he's our best defensive center. Sheahan is REALLY impressive right now.

Can't believe Babcock won't consider Gus in the top six... There's nothing more this kid can do in the AHL.

Griffins take a 5-2 lead out of nowhere. Goals by Tats and Hoggan back-to-back.

Are the Griffins seriously about to win a game in the Orange Box of Horrors? This is a dream come true!

IceHogs getting dirty. Hoggan lands a nice punch sticking up for AA.

Yep thats quite the guy to get in your first pro fight against when you havent fought in college for a few years. Nicastro has the size and mean streak so its a dimension he should be trying to add to his game. I basically stopped watching right before the fight though, sounds like he handled himself pretty well though.

Its awesome how hes putting up points when given a chance to play offensively and with good players. So many people who didnt watch him would just write him off because of his stats. He gets a chance and he goes on a tear.

He might get some NHL time this year, hes probably better than Andersson already

Well I guess Sheahan's breakthrough has finally arrived. It took promotion to the first line for it to happen but he's embraced the chance.

Last 9 games: 7G, 3A, +6.

Nyquist back on track too for that matter.

Last 10 games: 4G, 10A, +7. Points in seven straight. Top5 in AHL scoring.

Nyquist Top 5, Tatar in the top 20 and Ferraro scoring 13 goals. Sheahan heating up as well. Not too bad for our prospects. Smith didn't seem to get out of second gear (I know that's an exaggeration) but still has 20 points.

If Nyquist isn't going to play in the top 6 or even the third line for that matter, I prefer he stays on the top line in GR. You never know, with Schultz, Eberle, Hall, Atkinson and many others going to the NHL, Nyquist could lead the scoring in the AHL. The only big roster player they'll lose is Smith. I think Tatar and Gus should finish the season in GR instead of sitting in the pressbox "getting NHL experience".

GR with a 7 point lead in the division and level with Toronto in the conference.

It really looked that Smith saved his effort a little bit. He was a beast against Oklahoma or Rockford, when there was some extra stuff going. But against others, not the best Smith. I hope he can be that consistent beast in NHL when he doesn't have to avoid injuries or anything, just play.

Now with Smith gone and maybe Nyquist also, if Griffins doesn't take a dip, Jeff Blashill has to be going towards the title of AHL coach of the year.

I feel the same way, but with the glut of forwards, he ain't going to fit in the top-6,. where he belongs.
