I think he will leave Toronto. The guy seems SOOO uncomfortable around the media and was criticised so much, why stay there? I could see him signing with a team who is not as exposed to the media but on the way up. Teams coming to mind would be Columbus, Phoenix, Colorado, Nashville, St.Louis or (if we aren't able to re-sign Perry) Anaheim.
I agree. I think Kessel is a lazy little fatso who will chase the money into a small market where nobody cares about him. He's a headcase who can't handle pressure. No chance he re-signs in T.O.
I honestly think it's very possible he leaves as soon as he can. I suggested this on the Leaf forum and got questioned heavily as if this was impossible..

Lazy little fatso just scored 82 points with Bozak as his center.
Can't handle the pressure? He seems to do it just fine. Kessel is just more of a reserved person.
Headcase? No.
Critique his game all you want...but attacking his character when you know absolutely nothing about him off the ice is not good.

How many times did we see him cry in front of the camera because he thought his coach was too hard on him. Of course he scores points. He doesn't come past the red line. He's a lazy cherry picker.

A grand total of zero. Don't know what television you are watching.
Watching leaf fans justify trading their best player is funny on one side and sad on another. The talk about him not being a leader is kind of bs. As others have pointed out, he's a great guy to have as a complimentary player. The leafs definitely take a step back if they trade a pending UFA in Kessel.
It's easier to be dismissive isn't it? The videos don't lie. Kessel is a lazy cry baby. Boston wanted him gone because of the same issues. They were well reported.
He will either be traded or signed to a new contract at the end of this year I believe.
Depending on how T.O. does they could hang onto him until next years trade deadline. No rush. I don't see him wanting to re-sign in Toronto. He's the perfect player type for a PHX market.
Oh, LOL, that old chestnut. You really have no clue about this. Nor about how he became available for Boston.
HAHA.. You said zero video and I provided just one of many. I have nothing else to say because the facts are in... and it is well known that he wasn't a favorite in Boston because of his laziness and attitude. Try doing a bit of research next time. It helps.
well obviously. Letting him walk for nothing would be a disaster
True, but that is a very scary possibility if you try and leave things to the last minute. Think Parise. If I'm Nonis, I want a decision made by the end of this year.

I definitely agree with you on this one. However, I don't know if you'd get a better return for him at the deadline or during the 2013 offseason.

They would have more teams interested if they made the decision in the summer. Trade deadline you only have playoff teams looking to add salary. A kessel trade, if there was to be one, would be better off being made in the summer to maximize interest.
I think he stays. Kessel is a quiet, humble player with the skill for 40+ goals every season. He has consistantly looked better each season, starting to become an elite player in the league. With his skill set i think the leafs would be stupid to let him walk. Id think he would be offered Gaborik type money, as Gaborik is a player similar in trait (very skilled winger, not overly relied on for his leadership abilities).
With Nonis at the helm now i think he might get an overpayment though.

why do people think Nonis is incompetent or something? You realize he worked alongside Burke abd put together many of the trades for the Leafs including the Phaneuf deal. Nonis, in his role with the Leafs over the past 4 years, had more authority than a lot of other GM's do for other teams
