Had to "lol" at Mike Greens hair popping out of his lid. Went from mo-hawk to flow.

And looking at what Ovechkin was saying, it could of just been an analogy.

If you feel a little dizzy after taking a hit to the head, you have a concussion.

Maybe the specialist is Pavel Datsyuk and Backstom is there getting some scoring tips?

Maybe not.

At least he survived the KHL charter flights.

Just as likely to be a disk injury, and the specialist might be one of the newer type specialists who do the steroid injections, which can fix him up in just a few days.

Had one of those shots myself last Friday in Bethesda... they can do wonders.

Yeah, I've wondered about that after reading http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-pu...8599--nhl.html about Chara's hit on Satan.

Satan described his resulting neck injuries and then "said his headaches have subsided, but that he's still looking for further evaluation of his neck injury, which has kept him out of action since the Chara hits."

Backstrom's agent has said that the injury is a "neck injury".

He's still got 7 years to go on contract, I hope the injection isn't a quick fix...

Two different issues: in my case, among other issues, I have severe stenosis from region C3 thru C7. It too, was a result of a physical accident (5 different ones, in my case), but the real issue is that it's degenerative.

Backstrom's disk issue is likely not degenerative, so the injection will simply aid in reducing the swelling and allowing him to heal faster.

So in his case, a quick fix is good.

In my case, the pain started coming back in the early AM hours Monday morning (had the shot friday @ 5:30 PM), and as of last night, the pain is fully back.

Hopefully, I can get surgery. Until then, it's Norco 10 325's. Heck, I've got a prescription for 120 at a time with 4 refills. My germantown specialist wants me on Oxycodone, and I've gotta head down there to pick up a prescription from him today for 40 Oxy's to try out. Thank Gawd for pain meds, and I hope Backstrom is taking some and not suffering. It's foolish to suffer when you don't have to.

backstrom's head hit the boards and bent backward. the rear bottom of his helmet was driven into his neck. if you go back there is a photo of the trainer applying ice to the back of his neck just below the helmet.

Not sure how that would be possible since the CBA isn't officially ratified yet.

if you read the poti piece in the post, they mentioned that as an injured player poti was allowed contact with the capitals and use of their facilities all during the lockout. that and he was being paid. so, as an injured player a rehab assignment to the ahl would be allowed.

if you listen to mcphee in the presser commenting on poti, he says that he doesnt think he is going to be able to play, but good for him and us if he can. he then says that poti had been in regular contact with "smitty" during the lockout which would not have been allowed to a locked out player. as an injured player he was not locked out per say.

Because his neck is injured doesn't mean that he doesn't also have a concussion. The two are not mutually exclusive.

That being said, there's a reason you teach kids to put themselves in a position where their neck bends when crashing into the boards. Even if it leads to a neck injury like this, having flexibility in your neck during the collision greatly decreases the odds of suffering a concussion. You want the beck to bend, not be compressed.

I like the irony of the two players complaining that Fehr was extending the lockout being among the last to arrive.

Stephen Whyno @SWhyno
#Caps Poti "Hopefully it'll be better for this team to play a little bit more of an offensive, upbeat style than they kind of did last year"

This team isn't holding it back, they hated Hunters style. I figured at the time he left he was being shown the door and allowed to go out with dignity.

I did think about just finding it on youtube and linking that instead of actually typing.
