If this even is an actual rumor and not 100% made up it is Sather trying to make DZ nervous.
But my money is on 100% made up.

Yeah that makes zero sense. Oilers wouldn't give up any of Eberle, Hall or RNH. Highly doubt they'd exchange Schultz or Yakupov for Del Zotto, and I have zero interest in Pajaarvi. So.. that leaves a whole lot of nothing.
The idea that Slats would threaten MDZ with shipping him off to Edmonton to freeze would make more sense than the actual rumor.
Hypothetically if he was go to Edmonton Rangers need Ryan Whitney back for offense but he is always hurt. PLUS a guy like Pjarvvi or however you spell his name, guys to place in CT for depth
I would take Yakupov if they want to move him. They aren't moving Nugent Hopkins, Hall or Eberle so that is all it could be. And I doubt they would do a 1 for 1 anyways.

Probably nothing other than Glen posturing and leaking:

Rangers Report @rangersreport
To clarify, Rangers can't sign Del Zotto until CBA ratified, but they are not close on $ I'm hearing.
Quote:
Del Zotto, an RFA, is apparently looking for a deal worth north of $3 million per year, while the Rangers reportedly offered Del Zotto a two or three year deal at upward of $2.5 million per before the lockout.
Edmonton really shouldn't waste their time unless they are giving us Yakupov. They should know sather does not get fleeced in trades, that is his strong suit.
Do rookie bonus's still count towards the salary cap like they did in the old CBA?
my understanding is that the bonsues only count if the player earns them so teams can no longer inflate the cap hit with unattainable bonuses to get to the floor
So long as we're in silly season mode here yes, I absolutely would without batting an eye.
I'm not so sure, in non-silly mode.
MDZ could become phenomenal. He could also remain inconsistent and remain at the "he has potential" stage.
Yakupov is in the same boat. Hasn't played a game in the NHL, he could be the next Semin or the next Malkin.
It opens up a huge hole on our defensive line this year though. That's for sure. And who knows what it does to our chemistry. I'd bat many eyes before I thought about doing that trade.
