Gaunce's got a pretty good two way game. He's focusing on the D this year with more offensive team-mates, but last year him and Barrie's smart passing was huge for the Monsters.

I think he has a good chance especially if ROR decides to stay in Russia for the next few yrs

In a short season, Edmonton could squeeze in. Realistically, anyone could get hot long enough to put together a 20-10-2 record and basically make themselves a lock for 8th seed. Although I do agree with the premise of your post, the Oilers are more likely to finish 12th/13th than 6th-8th.

I like something akin to this in the West.

Blues
Kings
Canucks
Hawks
-----------
Pretty well defined top 4 in the conference from my perspective. Can't see how any of them won't be top 4 without injuries (like Kesler's) or an epicly bad stretch dropping them.
-----------
Sharks
Yotes
Avs
Wings
Wild
Stars
Preds
-----------
With how short this season is, I really think this crop of 7 will finish 4th-10th, it's hard to narrow it down more and order is fairly arbitrary.
-----------
Wild
Oilers
Flames
Ducks
Jackets
-----------
Flames are notoriously slow to start the season, Oilers are just learning how to gel together, Wild still have big question marks around their roster and youth that need to develop... Ducks could surprise me big time, they have the firepower. Jackets need another top pick, but they have depth, might ascend to the top of this bracket.
We had a better reason to be optimistic than they do now. We drafted Landeskog, Duchene just came off a great sophomore season, just traded for Johnson and got Varly and JSG.

It was an overhaul for the better.

All the Oilers have done is draft Yak and have done (basically) nothing else to upgrade their defense or goaltending situations.

IMO Sgarbossa really needs to spend the year in the AHL. I'm one of the biggest Sgarbossa fans their is (have been since he played on Saginaw) and I think it would be a disservice to his overall game to rush him. Spot duty for injuries I wouldn't mind seeing him with the Avs, but that is it. While he is playing good in the AHL and scoring at a good pace, he has some holes in his game that he needs to fix (namely his is not strong enough yet to play his game at a NHL level and his defensive prowess leave much to be desired at this moment). Bringing him up this year to play third line minutes (on a wing more than likely) would probably stunt his development a bit. I think he can develop into a solid #2C if given the time to refine his game.

They also signed Justin "Already slotted to win the Norris, Art Ross and Hart for the next 10 years, and is slightly better than Jeff 'True Son of God' Petry" Schultz.

Don't know if it has already been reported, but Siemens is not getting an invite to camp. Let the Siemens snubbing continue.

He can't, he wasn't on call-up sheet the NHL submitted to the CHL for junior players in the event of a post-lockout camp.

Probably better for Siemens to stick in the dub for now anyways.

They just ran drills today for about 2 hours.

Also, did Kobasew switch his number to 12?

He was wearing a helmet today with the #12 on it.

Yes Kobi did. Chambers tweeted that earlier today.

He is just trying to be like his hero, Kevin "I played great" Porter.

Why didn't he just rip it off of Porter's jersey and the ugly stache off of Porter's face while he's at it last year then?

They couldn't do it unless the home game is the 19th. Nuggets have the building on the 20th.

I'm not a Duchene fan at all but I can't wait for the season to start and see him explode and get a ton of points. There are too many idiots who look at his points last season and claim that he sucks or that he doesn't have much trade value.

COL has said no underager attend camp but Siemens eligible to be invited. NHL has list of 26 eligible based on team submissions pre-lockout

Siemens shouldn't get an invite anyway IMO. The Avs have too many vet D. I don't even expect Elliott or Barrie to make it. I'd bet the only reasons they're in camp is to re-evaluate them playing with NHLers, with an outside possibility to let another team evaluate them, since they may not get called up anytime soon if the team's playing well and the D is healthy.

I agree. Siemens is behind at least 9 defensemen and there is no chance he makes the team. This also isn't a normal training camp so he would only be here for a couple of days. It's better to just leave him with the Blades.
