I would ask questions all the time if my understanding of the jargon (in simple english) was correct which i know helped alot of students (who mentioned it to me) understand useless jargon.

Of course that's not to say what he did was right, that essay is 2-4 pages which is tiny espically with having 5 sources to use to get an A.

Most of my essays by the end had introductions that went 2-4 pages but of course by the end i learned to play their game and use Jargon that as i would write i would say this is extremely stupid and can be explained much simpler.
Jargon makes its way into academia not as baggage or to put up barriers against the uninitiated. It's shorthand for concepts that were debated years ago, over the course of usually tens of papers from multiple sources. Without jargon, papers would be unworkably cumbersome because the ideas they embody are generally very complex and nuanced and would take up too much space to define each and every time.

It's good to hear that you were able to come up with a working definition for jargon used in your coursework. Making students do the digging to find a useable meaning is the whole point.

is he skating with the Canucks @ UBC right now

unless hes applying for his local community college or signing up for sales associate at Best Buy

i don't see why isn't doing something productive that leads him to a pro contract

at the least, continue your workout routine like you would have in college during the weekdays

i was looking forward to him and Jeremy Price. hoping for big production from both

I'm told #Canucks prospect Pat McNally has been skating with an Eastern Junior Hockey League team. Was removed from Harvard's roster in Dec.

Thanks, I'm dying for some more info though. I hope he doesn't end up wasting a year.

Well that's a useless piece of information. Can't he just find out if the kid is coming to camp?

Better then being in the dark about what he is or isn't doing. Jeez

Seems to make a lot of sense that he would sign, considering that spots will be opening up in the minor leagues now. Even if there's no space on the Wolves there would probably be another AHL team short on dmen that we could loan him to.

Sorry, I'm not criticizing you in any way. I just think it's pointless for @farhandevji to tweet that. The guys he's skating with indicate nothing about his next move.

That wasn't my point. We were in the dark for a while not knowing what he was doing, would he play? If he was skating? ...etc

I know I'd prefer to know some miniscule tid bit of info then being stuck in the dark about what he is doing.

I don't think he would be practicing is he wasn't planning on playing this year. Maybe he hasn't gotten any (good) offers yet.

Does signing with an AHL team close the door on ever playing for Harvard or any other NCAA team?

Yes, once you sign a pro contract you are ineligible to go back and play in the NCAA

Well, then that's that. McNally's taking a year hiatus practicing with younger players, however ill-advised it may be.

Or he's skating with them while he weighs his choices.

That would turn his 4 year NCAA career into a 5 year NCAA career. UGH.

No, he's not going to get a year of eligibility back in a situation like this. He'd still have only two seasons left, assuming he was allowed back next fall. But this would be a wasted year development-wise.

Is he still studying? If he gets his degree, he'd leave no matter if he sat one out.

Sign him to an ELC that has enough of a signing bonus to give him three years of Harvard tuition, books, and housing covered. Go back to Harvard after your career.

Agreed.

Harvard doesn't give full ride scholarships anyways.

He's making a bad choice by not going pro, if his ultimate goal is the NHL.

Get him the hell out of there. An idle age 21 year is awful for your development.

Get to the Wolves, give the NHL a go, and if it doesn't work out, he has a signing bonus that he could've thrown in a safe investment until he needs it that could easily pay for the rest of his schooling.
