Perry is the fomer Hart Trophy winner. Kadri has done nothing in the NHL and Kassian has done little as well. The Ducks get what is likely a late first from Van. and a pending free agent.
Corey Perry would be a highly sought after player if he came on the market.
This is kind of interesting. I wonder how Nuck's fans feel, is a 1st or Kadri more valuable?
It's hard to say. Many fans don't think Kadri would be a fit because AV tends to not put younger players in key offensive situations until they prove capable defensively. But to start the season the Canucks are going to have a massive hole at center on the 2nd line, and Kadri could get a good chance to audition. If he succeeds then he could potentially move to Kesler's wing when he returns. But if he fails, could become a complete waste.
It's really a matter of preference and I just like guys like Perry in the playoffs. You really need to compare current Perry with Kovy at the time he was traded as we are looking at return.
I disagree. And that's even ignoring the whole KHL thing.
I hate Perry with a passion but he's a very talented player.
At the time of the trade Kovalchuk had 58 points in 49 games, finishing the season with 85/76 respectively. Prior to that he has posted 91, 87 and 98 points topping fifty goals twice. Just last year he put up 83 in 77 and has vastly improved his defensive game since going to New Jersey.
Perry is good but outside of one 98 point season. His numbers do not compare to Kovalchuk's, especially not when Kovy was traded. One could argue Atlanta having no chance of resigning him attributed to a lower return though.
First off Philly is well know for lunacy..
I think of all the teams in the NHL they are the most likely to cut a 44mill check or send that asset too waivers.
IMO the players van would want would be coutrier or schenn. Similar situation to gardiner and rielly. Both are great talents. No team would want to trade either. Only problem is there is only one job for both of them.
Schenn and couts project to be 1c2c guys. You have giroux a super stud locked down
1c for the next 4-6 years i bet is taken
You see either of those two other guys as 3rd liners? Soo they might be and i stress might be moveable to get a goalie that A has a fantastic resume. B is proven to be able to handle the mad house that is Philly.
Luongo for couts.. Keep the brothers schenn imo.
No way would the Flyers ever send out Coots for Luongo. You are as crazy as you claim the Flyers are if you actually think (a) this is fair value, (b) it is realistic in any way.
No thanks, give me Perry. Won a cup, grittier, and even though he's cheap at times he plays on the edge.
Not to knock Kovy though, its VERY close between the two for me.
Yeah for sure. Very close, but Perry is the proven winner. He was a huge piece in winning the gold medal in 2010 as well, scoring a very crucial goal. He also pretty much single-handedly got Anaheim into the playoffs. He steps up when it matters.
