That's the worst part. There's random potential numbers, and the editor is a UK app, so I have to convert everything into cms and kgs.

Just finished. I'm very tired. I hope the database doesn't kick back any errors.

As a general FYI:

Random current ability
Home rep 70
Current rep 50
World 40

All non-selected skills range from 7-11, done randomly

EDIT:

Checking things out, it looks like my timing was off a bit on the years. Most of us are 15 or 16. Oh well.

Made a few tweaks before running it.

Pre-season Scouting – October 3rd, 2006

Axelsen – The Vatican City native is eligible for the upcoming NHL Draft. He will be playing for the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL this season, and scouts say he has top nine NHL forward potential, comparing him to a slower Daniel Sedin. Scouts agree that the 17-year-old plays a solid two-way game, is a consummate professional and a magician when creating plays. He is currently unranked and could be a sleeper for the Draft.

Azzaroni – Suiting up for the Brampton Battalion, the 16-year-old Azzaroni is just shy of 6 feet tall. Scouts are not too high on him, saying that he could end up as a poor man’s Michael Ryder. They do add, however, that he is strong-willed, hard-working, and a very professional player. Scouts also love his shot selection, noting that he has a laser of a wrist shot.

Bettman – The unorthodox goaltender for the Des Moines Buccaneers has scouts comparing him to a smaller but better Ben Bishop. Of course, nearly everyone is smaller than Ben Bishop, so the 6’3” Bettman shouldn’t worry about that. Scouts say that he “plays with a complete disregard for goaltending technique” but add that he has outstanding endurance, recovers from saves very well, and has a quick glove hand. He is currently ranked 61st for the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He is being pursued by the North Dakota Fighting Sioux and the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Cann – Another Remparts skater, this huge 17-year-old plays an offensive game and is “willing to do whatever it takes.” He is a creative playmaker and a faceoff specialist. Some scouts have said that he has top 6 NHL potential, comparing him to a poor man’s Evgeny Malkin. His skillset has him ranked 15th for the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Donahue – Skating for the Halifax Mooseheads, Donahue is a 6’6” winger who is said to be very strong-willed and highly professional. Currently ranked 64th for the NHL Entry Draft, scouts see him as a poor man’s James Neal and project him to play in a top nine capacity at the NHL level. He is an excellent playmaker who excels along the boards.

Dover – The unfortunately-named Ben Dover is said to have third line NHL potential, with scouts comparing the London Knights forward to a poor man’s Bobby Butler. He is a team leader with great anticipation. He is a good all-around scorer and is willing to do the ugly work to help his team win.

Duddy – Las Vegas native Thomas Duddy recently signed on to play with the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL. The 6’2” scorer has excellent quickness, top notch passing, and a laser of a wrist shot. He is a patient player who is willing to let the play develop instead of forcing the issue. He is currently ranked 79th for the NHL Entry Draft. Scouts compare him to a bigger, slower Milan Hejduk.

Pole – The 16-year-old left wing has a lot of potential. Scouts say that he is a fantastic two-way skater and a complete team player. He looks like a slower but more talented Ryan Clowe, finishing every one of his checks with his “scary” physical strength. He will be playing for the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL.

Rose – Dustin Rose is one of the more unique NHL prospects in the world. The 6’8” native of Accra, Ghana is a solid two-way center. He excels at faceoffs and is a great playmaker. Scouts project him in a third line shutdown role, similar to Brian Boyle. Rose, who also has German roots, will be playing for the Spokane Chiefs of the WHL.

Stig – The 6’4” Stig is drawing a lot of comparisons to Robyn Regehr, but most scouts project him to be a depth defender at the NHL level. He is a cool, calm, and collected skater who plays aggressively and is a tight checker. He does not panic with the puck and has a good first outlet pass.

Von Hinten – Projecting as a top six goal scorer, Marcus Von Hinten will most likely be playing on Dustin Rose’s wing. The German-born skater is almost pure offense, with great passing and scoring skills. He is drawing interest from a number of NHL teams, who see him as a slower Teemu Selanne. His raw talent has him ranked 20th for the NHL Entry Draft.

Damn. Forgot to include you. You're in the sim, though.

EDIT:

Here's a weird one. You're in the database but not in the game. The only one missing. Maybe you retired already?

I started a new game and immediately looked for you. You don't show up. I can't figure this one out.

Hephaestus Axelsen and Dustin Rose have both been released from their CHL contracts. Axelsen was quickly snapped up by Jokerit A-Jrs while Rose is now under contract with Kolner Haie of the DEL after signing a two year deal worth $33,500 for year one and $36,000 for year two. He does have an NHL Release Clause and a Player Option Year.

Contract deals for Axelsen are currently unavailable.

Mid-season Scouting – January 5th, 2007

Axelsen – Having played in 17 games for Jokerit A-Jrs, the slick playmaker has 5 goals and 9 assists and is currently a +6. He has been getting scouted heavily by a number of NHL squads, including Winnipeg and Tampa Bay. His play has him sitting just outside the first round, as he is currently ranked 31st for the NHL Draft.

Azzaroni – Azzaroni’s CHL career is off to a bumpy start. In 39 games with the Brampton Battalion, the 6’ winger has only 2 goals and 1 assist to show for himself while playing 4th line duty. He will have to pick up his game if he plans on playing hockey after the CHL.

Bettman – Ranked 81st at the midseason mark, the unorthodox goaltender for the Des Moines Buccaneers has committed to play with North Dakota next season. He is sporting an 11-13-2 record with a 3.46 GAA and 0.882 save percentage.

Cann – The unusually-named Mexi Cann is climbing up the ratings and now sits in the 12th spot. He has surprised many this season with his 21 goal, 18 assist effort, especially as he is noted as a dangerous playmaker. His 39 points trail only Mikhail Grigorenko’s 44 on the Remparts.

Donahue – The playmaking winger for the Mooseheads is currently ranked 77th for the NHL draft. In 37 games, he has only 5 goals and 8 assists, but scouts like his 6’6” frame and hope he can continue to unearth his latent offensive game.

Dover – The London Knights winger has 14 points in 38 games so far this season with 8 of those points coming with the man advantage. His point totals aren’t great, but he is averaging only slightly more than 11 minutes of ice time per game.

Duddy – 91st in the NHL Draft rankings isn’t where Duddy had hoped to be, but the 6’2” Las Vegas native might be climbing in the future. His 16 goals and 27 points in 40 games have him fourth on the Red Deer Rebels scoring sheet, but his 6’2” frame and willingness to fire the puck will no doubt see him get drafted come June.

Pole – Dick Pole is a grinder. No, I’m not making that up. The game actually says that. He also has 8 goals and 12 points for the Portland Winterhawks while playing 12 minutes a game on average. His wrist shot is, amazingly enough, even better than it was in October. If he works on his foot speed, he could be a force.

Rose – The CHLer-turned-DELer is ranked 68th at the midway point of the season. The Koln center has only 2 goals and 3 assists in 22 games, but he is also a +10 and has thrown 22 hits. He also has an excellent 18:1 takeaway:giveaway ratio, all the while playing almost 20 minutes a game. He could be a great long-term shutdown project.

Stig – The London-born defender is enjoying his time in Windsor, scoring 10 points in 28 games with the Spitfires. Having just turned 17 in November, he is perhaps the youngest player in our spotlight and should have plenty of time to continue to grow into his 6’5” frame.

Von Hinten – The Spokane Chiefs are thrilled with the development of their German forward. Ranked 16th at the middle of the season, the 6’2” Von Hinten has 19 goals in 34 games, with 11 of them coming on the powerplay and another shorthanded. He has been a key player for the Chiefs, skating almost 24 minutes a game.

This is awesome though, first time I've ever done one of these things.

Axelsen – Sitting in the 31st spot in the draft rankings, the versatile Axelsen is “a magician in creating plays” and is expected to be an impact player, long-term. A superb passer, the left winger finished his season with Jokerit A-Jrs and is waiting for the NHL draft at home. In 32 games, he scored 19 goals and added 23 assists, finishing a +30. A key forward for the team, he averaged a hair under 22 minutes of ice time a game.

Azzaroni – The 17-year-old Azzaroni had a season to forget, but at least he has another full year before he is draft eligible. Playing in 64 games for the Brampton Battalion, he tallied just 3 goals and 2 assists and finished with an average of 8:11 a game of ice time. A Western Conference NHL scout recently said that, although he has great poise and speed to burn, he is a prospect with limited potential.

Bettman – The 79th ranked Bettman is capable of stealing games, as long as shooters only go for his glove hand. The 6’3” North Dakota-bound goaltender played for a terrible Des Moines Buccaneers team, ending the season with a 17-31-4 record, a 3.51 goals against average, and a .883 save percentage.

Cann – The highest-ranked player in our spotlight, Mexi Cann is settled into the 14th spot in the rankings. Playing an offensive-minded game, the 6’2” playmaker scored 36 goals in 64 games for the Quebec Remparts, adding 32 assists to boot. His goal total led the team, and he finished second in points behind Grigorenko’s 81.

Donahue – Will Pheelicks Donahue’s big slapshot and team-first attitude be enough to get him to the NHL some day? That’s the question that scouts have of the 82nd ranked skater, a 6’6” beast of a player from Halifax, Nova Scotia. An excellent stickhandler with a laser of a wrist shot, it is Donahue’s hockey sense that could hold him back. He finished with 14 goals and 15 assists in 69 games for the Mooseheads.

Dover – After 70 games with the London Knights, Ben Dover ended the season with 21 points, on the strength of 13 goals. Scouts like his leadership abilities and his hustle on the ice, but think his potential is limited. He is unranked for the upcoming NHL Draft.

Duddy – The Las Vegas native has great speed and a dangerous shot selection, but he still didn’t quite put up the numbers expected of him at the beginning of the season. Playing in 70 games for the Red Deer Rebels, Duddy scored 22 goals and added 20 assists, but finished a -14. The 6’2” winger of Austrian heritage is ranked 73rd in the final NHL rankings.

Pole – The grinding Dick Pole [someone shoot me now] is regarded as a good-to-excellent long term prospect. He has been called a fantastic two-way talent, forechecking extremely well, and has “scary” physical strength. Eligible for the draft next season, Pole had 14 goals and 7 assists for the Portland Winterhawks, playing in 70 games.

Rose – Incredibly strong and remarkably tall, the Koln Haie center is ranked 60th for the upcoming draft. He is a great passer and sets a predictably massive screen on the power play. While his individual skills and intangibles all look very solid, scouts question his long-term potential. The two-way center finished with 9 goals and 15 points in 42 games for the DEL franchise.

Stig – The 6’5” British defender was recently called a good, long-term prospect. In 57 games with the Windsor Spitfires, he tallied 6 goals and 13 assists, along with 58 minutes of penalties. Scouts love his confidence with the puck and his intimidation factor. His size, hockey sense, and defense are all top notch. He could be the best pure defensive defenseman in next year’s NHL draft.

Von Hinten – The big German slipped slightly in the final rankings, dropping to 18th, but that doesn’t stop scouts from loving his impressive skating and playmaking abilities. The 6’3” Spokane Chiefs forward registered 30 goals and 20 assists in 63 games, with a phenomenal 26 of those points coming with the man advantage.

If there are any real players you guys want an update on, now’s the time of the season to ask.
