If that is the kind of return you are expecting you are going to be so disappointed.

The three way deal the gets the Canucks Perry looks bizarro. I'm not missing anything in the new CBA right? Perry is still a UFA come July 1 right? and with the cap dropping significantly it would be very hard for them to resign him going forward.

So the Canucks deal Luongo and they end up being the front runners for the cup this season but could easily end up with nothing but a 2nd round pick out of the Luongo deal?
Perry and Luongo have the exact same salary(now).

Ballard would be bought out(4.2 mil) or traded, and the addition of Perry would make Booth(4.25) expendable for a cheaper repacement.

I think the possibility of you being disappointed is more than me being disappointed in Leafs-Canucks trade.

Anyways, wouldn't mind giving up Raymond instead of Tanev. I think it is a fair trade for both teams.

You are not getting that many good prospects and a first round pick. Not from the Leafs, not from anyone.

Thanks for telling us, Dave Nonis

I think we should make our third round in 2014 as well, since 2013 will be a deep draft.

It would be really cool if someone created a large matrix that contained all the various proposals and how they would be received by both the Vancouver and Toronto fanbases. Basically a score card for the trade that contains general consensus from both sets of fans. It seems like a much more productive exercise then having people state the trades and hearing the predictable responses over and over again.

Gillis never negotiates through media manipulation. Many of his trades come out of nowhere. Almost all the speculation around Luongo and Toronto is coming from Toronto based media. It's not surprising because any big name talent on the move gets written up extensively about the prospect of going to Toronto. How many actually come to fruition? Not Richards or Nash or any other innumerable players each year. Luongo ending up in Toronto would actually be a big shocker to me. I expect Gillis to either be working out a deal with his long time trading partner Tallon or to some totally unexpected team not on anyone's radar. That's how he operates.

You gotta spend money to make money. If Luongo can put the Leafs in the playoffs just this year the Leafs could very well make that much in merchandise and attendance boost and return from irrelevance. The Leafs are still the most popular team and they've been bad for a long time, they have a lot of dormant fans.

I think people need to look at what Montreal received for Halak to get a sense of what a 34 year old Luongo on a 10 year contract is worth.

Luongo is worth more than Nash, and certainly worth more than Halak as well.

You seriously think you will get Kadri, Colbourne, Gardiner and a first? Dear god, can't wait to see him traded

Bang on! You will get no leaks out of Gillis. We will have no idea until the trade is announced. Just like the Hodgson trade.

See this is what I don't get If Lou is a superstar why is he even being considered as trade bait? Does that make Schneider a superstar to? Lou lost his job to a good goalie, superstar's don't do that. Is he a #1 goalie, yes but with 9 years left and a lot of money on that contract the Nuck's aren't going to fetch the return they expect. A top 6 forward, a top prospect and a pick is not realistic for Roberto, his value is simply to low dispute his skill level. I'd expect a top 6 forward and a lower round pick (3rd) or a Top 9 forward with a higher pick (1st or 2nd)

I'd do Kadri, Bozak, Finn, 2014 2nd. That is the max I'm willing to give and even that makes me nervous (I think Kadri will be a good player)

A 25 year old Luongo would be worth a considerable deal more than a Halak, absolutely. A 33-34 year old on an 11 year deal paying him until he's 44? Pushed out of his starting job by a young up-and-comer? A team that is paying their goalies a combined $11 million? No.

Rick Nash?

IF that's what Vancouver wants in return, he'll remain a Canuck. And that's fine. I just hope Gillis comes out and says it instead letting this ordeal go on indefinitely.

Contracts and age are a big part of it and how often do goalies get much? Especially 34 year olds?
