No, Russians and Czechs just can't be friends, it's a genetic mismatch, that's all.

A 3rd liner for the Rangers gets more attention than Elias does now. Get out of here with this junk

I want to talk about something positive, man. It's like the second we heard the lockout was over, we had more "controversial" **** to deal with.

Maybe if Lou let's Kovalchuk make more music videos, he will be happy in Jersey.

I haven't gotten any vibe from Elias that he's an attention guy.

Who cares if he's more popular? Elias has been a great player in this league and has won 2 championships. Nothing for Elias to be jealous of Kovalchuk about.

And outside the forum world, you'd be surprised how mixed Kovalchuk's popularity is with Devil fans.

Based on how Elias is at events, I don't think he loves the spotlight.

Everyone wants to be appreciated, but some people would like the acknowledgement without the fandom that comes with it.

Just to be clear, Elias is fine at events, he just seems uncomfortable with all the strangers around.

Which is why he's sitting at home not playing, instead of playing in CR?

Although Patty hasn't made many 'warm' comments about Kovy, IF he is the player that TG mentioned isn't thrilled, how can you blame him?

Patty has grown up the Devil way and is everything that represents what this team is about - why is it a surprise IF it is indeed him, that he isn't thrilled with an exception being made for one player to miss team event(s) when this organization has been built around the front of the jersey and not the back

Patty/that player's thinking is "Don't give me the 'well the CBA isn't signed yet ********', thats a straw man excuse....the lines can easily be read and everybody knows when it will be signed, ratified and when camps will likely start - Kovy had plenty of time to get back here like just about every other player"

To an extent, I can't disagree with Patty/that player

Elias is 36 years old. He wasn't going to go overseas unless the season was cancelled.

Patty should thank the KHL players. They are part of the reason the season didn't get cancelled and the players didn't have to cave.

Datsyuk is 34. I guess he's going straight to the old folks home after he leaves the KHL All-Star game.

You don't have a strand here and you just keep on going.

Oh, this one is good too. I should come out of retirement to mount a campaign against all of the stupid on this site. Problem is with stuff like this it'd be a full-time job.

Datsyuk had the desire to play and reports are in 2 years (age 36) he will be signing a full time contract in the KHL.

I am just stating my opinion that I get the vibe that Patty doesn't like Kovy. Seems a lot of posters agree since he is the 1st person that comes to mind that was against Kovy playing in the ASG.

You don't think the KHL help the players get a better deal?

lol yeah the NHL was really worried about a second-rate league that only gets over-the-hill older guys and headcase younger players to stay over there, despite offering $30 million salaries. How many non-Russians are even considering the KHL as a long-term destination? Next to zero.

It's not cause he 'doesn't like' Kovy, it's that he's one of the few actual prominent Devils, and he's never really been afraid to say what's on his mind. At least fifteen other guys on the team wouldn't say boo, much less offer a (well-deserved) criticism, whether it's Kovy or anyone else.

If Crosby went over to the KHL the lock would have been over the next day.

Why didn't he then? Pretty selfish on his part.
