He had 1 point last year and only 1 this year. He seems like a non prospect at this point.

That's the thing though. He wouldn't play with Couturier. If Read gets dealt for a defenseman, then you're look at a line of Talbot - Couturier - Fedotenko and then a fourth of Wellwood - Laughton - Rinaldo/Shelly. Playing Laughton with those guys kills any chance he has of getting any sort of decent ice time. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather see a young guy get boat loads of ice time in a league like the OHL or AHL before getting table scraps at the NHL.

In his first season he only played about 15 games or so and I believe he wasn't the only freshman to not play every game. I agree lacking in offense so greatly really reduces his chances of making the team, but there are some NHLers that put up very few points. Since 04-05 to the present Grossmann, regardless of the league he was playing in hasn't put up more than 12 points. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p....php?pid=76097

You can't compare a forward to a defenseman- a defensive one at that.

For some reason I thought Placek was a defenseman. I know at some point I knew he was a forward but somehow I mixed it up.

I have only seen him about four times and I must admit the kid shows me nothing. Maybe the switch will go on cause he has size and can move. But to me he is invisable on the ice.

So disappointed in regards to Placek. I was really hoping this kid turned out to be something. He seemed like a potential gem. Evidently I was wrong... Which doesn't happen too often.

He can't be. He's an NCAA player and currently without an NHL contract.

Not only is he not legally allowed to be in camp by NHL rules, but he would forgo his NCAA eligibility if he showed up.

eh I dont think hes ready TBH. Let him stay in college and develop and mentally and physically mature as a hockey player. Being that hes a defenseman I wouldnt mind him staying thru at least his junior season.

It sucks that the NHL Network will probably stop showing live CHL games on friday nights once the NHL season starts. Maybe we could have watched Stolarz play for London.

Nice. Hoping Stolarz does well in London behind that stacked team.

So Stolarz didnt leave for his grades...that's for sure...

He carried a 3.6 grade point average in Omaha and will continue with university classes here, focusing on business and economics. In London, he is eligible now to sign with the Flyers.
