This fits with what Nonis said earlier. We won't trade a young player unless we get an equally good player that is also young and probably a different position. I'm high on O'Reilly though, but I'd do this deal. I could see him fitting in between Lupul and Kessel nicely.

I seriously doubt Colorado would even consider trading away ROR to Edmonton.

The NW will heat up in a few years, it wouldn't make sense from competitive stand point to give Edmonton an edge.

Anaheim or Chicago would make sense if a trade happened at all.

COL needs a LHD, maybe something involving Sbisa?

I can tell you this... There wouldn't even be a sniff of a trade until Gardiner has proven beyond a doubt the concussion hasn't effected him.

Now I realize why Leafs fans are all of the sudden ok with trading him... Figures...

The fact that he has even been concussed would probably scare Colorado off completely after dealing with Mueller.

ANA = Fowler (And I'm not that big of a fan, +/- is BS but hes not exactly becoming known for being 'responsible' defensively.)

CHI = Keith

I actually think Gardiner is fine and it would really suck losing him, but it'd be worth it to obtain a player like O'Reilly. Plus I think we're dealing from a position of strength because our defensive prospect pool is pretty good, but our forward, specifically Centre, prospect pool is shockingly bad. Also I'm pretty sure Carlyle already said he'd be ready to go for the 19th

A very good chance that both team wont be in the same division next season anyway, but I can't see the avs trading with the oilers.

Per @MChambersDP, O'Reilly wants five year deal, Avs only offering three

maybe he'll settle on 4?

He's not even asking for a whole lot of money, was speculated to only be asking for 4M or so, its the term that both sides are in disagreement on...

And the thing I don't understand is why wouldn't you want to sign a guy like Oreilly to a 5 year deal at only 4M. Theres a good chance that that contract becomes a real steal in years 3,4, and 5 if Oreilly becomes a 65-70 point player with Defensive game he brings.

But, Im pretty confident now that the two sides will figure it out if that's how close they really are.

This is the kind of deal I'd like to see us make. Losing Gardiner would suck, but I think the value is perfect.

It would ultimately be switching a valuable young D for a valuable young C.

Bozak is best friends with Stastny and spends time in Denver during the summers.

The 2nd rounder is to sweeten the deal for the Avs.

Duchene, Stastny and Bozak down the middle.

Only way leafs will get O'reilly is if they give us kessel. Actually not too sure if kessel would even get it done.

That's not true at all.

As much as you want to believe it, it's not true.

The Maple Leafs have assets other than Kessel that could get O'Reilly.

Benefit O'reilly provides to the avs >>> benefit kessel will provide to the avs

O'reilly is the heart and soul of the team, he aint going for cheap IF he ever does go.

Because he would be a UFA at the end of the contract, they want one more contract where they keep his RFA status for negotiations.

If it were me I would offer him 7 years. I see this guy as the heart of our team going forward, and I want him here for good. He obviously wants 5 though to get the balance of security and a chance to negotiate a raise sooner though.

Bob Cole would have a brain aneurysm with Rielly and O'Reilly on the same team.

To the proposed deal of Bogo for O'Reilly, the Jets would say no. Bogo was our best defenseman last year and we're looking to build that group around him (similar to what you guys are doing with Johnson).

Instead, what about a deal around Burmistrov+ for O'Reilly?

I fail to see a reason for the Avs to do this. I see a reason for the Jets to do it, depending on the plus of course. They are able to upgrade at centre. While Burmistrov is young with offensive potential I don't see the point in bring him in. He doesn't help out no. 2 LHD problem or our winger problem.

Isn't Gardiner still dealing with PCS? Otherwise a good deal.

He apparently passed the benchmark test but still has minor symptoms. I believe he skated with the team yesterday though.
