yeah ok Habs would have to add...a 23 y.o dman in many top 15 categories of ALL NHL dmen and they have to add to trade for a guy who has proven 0 in the NHL

I'd do Yakupov + Klefbom for Eller + Subban.

Yakupov > Subban
Eller > Klefbom

Maybe a 2nd on either side to balance it out.

Wow, I'm extremely surprised by many of you. If I'm Montreal I do this easily. I can understand that Montreal doesn't have anyone else to replace him but Yakupov will be much better at his position than Subban, imo.

Lol, even more lopsided for Edmonton.

i'd make that trade, albeit hesitantly, if i were Montreal. Galchenyuk + Yakupov could be a force in a year or 2.

Probably because the potential he has is undeniable.

What about Subban's potential? Already a nbr. 1 defenseman and still growing.

I would say no for MTL... Subban makes all the games with the Bruins that much better!

It would be an interesting trade for both sides to say the least. Oilers really need to add on D. I can't say that Subban would be their Paul Coffey but add a good young goalie and all the pieces would come together at every positions.

subban fit perfectly with the oilers but yakupov should becoome the better player, the last real great offensive player the habs had was Guy Lafleur so it's been a while

As a Bruins fan I would hope the Habs keep Subban. Losing him and adding yakupov would be a great way to secure a top pick in a very deep draft. The thought of Galy, Yak, and Jones or whomever you get is a great core to build around. I also understand how beloved PK is by Montreal and how nobody wants to see their team tank, but that, in my opinion, would be great for the future of the Habs.

a rumor say that Burke wanted to make a big trade at the draft to be able to get Yakupov AND Galchenyuk, just like he did for the Sedin brothers and Yakupov got draft by the oilers for 1 reason, it is probably because he was the best player.

So if all that is true I think the habs could become something special and that at the cost of PK Subban.

#1 on a bad team. ideally, he's a very good #2 defenseman on a good team. lets' not get over ourselves now...

True. With missing the year due to injury, the gap was fairly wide, but Galchenyuk has really shown that the injury did nothing to set him back. I lived in Edmonton for 11 years, and I know how loved the Oilers are. I really do hope that Yakupov and the other top picks pan out as expected. Good Oilers hockey makes the long winters a little shorter.

EDM is happy with who they selected 1st overall.. He may be a #4 here at the moment but has the potential to be a franchise player.
I'd trade him for Benn because Benn is the proven commodity. Add to the fact that the Blues biggest need is a #1 center it makes sense to me. Swapping out STL for EDM and Benn for Subban, isn't the proven thing better than a prospect who could bust, (unlikely sure but still)

I fully admit to being tuned in to everything Edmonton needs but it seems their biggest need is a top end defenseman which Subban is.

If that's the case, trading an unproven piece for a NHL tested top 20 defenseman makes sense to me.

Yak could be a franchise player...but so could Eberle and RNH and Taylor Hall. The likelihood of those three becoming franchise players is higher than the likelihood of say Jeff Petry.

Anyway i think it's an interesting proposal as an outsider, but it seems your whole fanbase is against it. So be it. Fun to discuss.

#1D are MUCH harder to get than a #1 winger. We drafted Pacioretty 22nd overall and hes turned into a 1st line winger without us having to give up anything. I'd rather just hope that one of our prospects like Gallagher, Kristo, Collberg, etc. turn into a 1st line winger as opposed to trading PK for one.
