This was my thought. Honestly, I'd prefer the pick. This is a team in transition, let's keep building in the draft.

Sounds like Belanger would be the perfect fit for this deal

Leopold for Belanger is selling low for the sabres imo...if im not getting a good offer, id rather keep him til the deadline as another poster above me has said...if we are in the playoffs...keep him and make a run if we're out or on the bubble hed fetch way more

But, I don't think Leopold is enough to get him unless the Oilers are really that desperate to shed his salary. And frankly, it's not the salary that's an issue, it's the cap hit.

Wonder how off in value Leopold for Belanger is?
Not with a 5.5mil cap hit for 2 more years after this one he isn't.

He may never be Wille Mitchell but i don't think Matt Greene like ability is unattainable (that guy just won a cup as a legitimate player). We traded/gave up on Greene too early, almost Smid, lets not do the same with Peckham.
Quoted for truth... We were in love with this guy 18 months ago. Just like Smid and Schenn and Greene( for that matter), 2nd/3rd seasons can be a huge regression for some Dmen.

I expect a bounce back from him and Whitney. We could use one more vet dman, but not of the Leopold phenotype.

Horcoff would make me quite happy if somehow we could get Edmonton to eat some of the cap. Maybe send a lower end player/pick in exchange for EDM eating half of horcoff's cap? Maybe a guy like McCormick or something?

I'd be more interested in Regher.

So he can put an "out of order"-sign around Hemsky's neck right after the first practice unit?

For Horcoff and Hamilton. I seriously doubt the Oilers trade Horcoff though. He's overpaid but he plays tough minutes as well.
RNH
Gagner
Belanger
Lander
would be our C depth

I'd do Horcoff & Hamilton, but why would Buffalo do this?

What would Buffalo be looking for in exchange for Regher?
