would only imagine him signing with a contender. kind of tough with the shortened season however NYR does make some sense. then again i could see the pens or even a carolina being in there. they all have space and would benefit from the experience he would bring.
Colorado would also be an interesting place for him. Put him on the LW with Duchene and Parenteau. Not sure he can keep up with the speed of the other two, but the experience and scoring would be a nice addition.
Katie Carrera, who covers the Caps, denied interest on their part.
Of course, I'm pretty sure all the GMs are being very secretive about negotiating with players as no one wants to invoke a fine or penalty from the NHL. So, either Washington is interested and covering their *****, or have no interest. It's a peculiar time to be a hockey fan.
McPhee is synonymous with saying one thing and doing the exact opposite.....just 2 days ago he said no CHL players would be coming to camp, then today we find out Tom Wilson has been invited.
I can't see him anywhere but New Jersey at this point of his career. He was on his last legs when he went back there last year and had to earn a contract through a tryout. I think it's Devils or no one at this point.

If you're counting on PA Parenteau for speed then you are in trouble. Probably the slowest and least physical player in the league. Amazing playmaking and vision though.
As for Sykora, he would look good on any contenders third line

I agree with McPhee because we having too many forwards on our roster. For the most part it is quantity over quality but we have a ton of bottom 6 forwards and I don't think we sign him unless we trade away some forwards.
Certainly won't be Pittsburgh given how badly he faded down the stretch for us, and how Sykora had some not so nice things to say about Bylsma after he left (allegedly - he pulled the old "misquoted card"). Anyway, the Pens brass insists on fast-paced north-south hockey, and I doubt Sykora has the wheels for that.

He doesn't.. but his shot is still deadly.
He must've scored 6-7 goals last year from the same exact spot, right off the faceoff. Don't expect him to ever get a breakaway but with linemates who can control the puck in the offensive zone, he's still pretty valuable.

He didn't say he was misquoted, he said he never said those things at all, and his agent compared the publication who printed the comments to the National Enquirer.
Frankly, I'm inclined to believe someone who never came across as anything but a good natured teammate over a tabloid magazine that calls itself, 'Aha!'

The Caps have 13 NHL forwards on the roster, and that's only if Backstrom is healthy. And they could easily use a scoring winger. Whether Sykora is actually a fit is obviously debatable, but saying they have too many forwards is wrong.
Why would you want Sykora on your 2nd line and then have Hejduk on the 4th line? Hejduk is better than Sykora.
We'll see how Duke looks early this year, but last year after the first 15-20 games he's one of the most ineffective players I've ever seen on an NHL team in a scoring role.

In a perfect world, Hejduk returns to his old self, plays with Duchene and PA and scores 20+ goals and shows that he still deserves to be on the ice every game. I'm all for giving him the chance, but Sykora would be a great insurance policy.
I would like to have Sykora back on the Penguins, but he never really fit well with Crosby. He played well with Malkin when the two of them had Malone as the net front presence on the line. Neal does not fit that role as well. With his lack of speed Sykora would not fit the Penguins' system. So I do not see it happening. montreal might be a darkhouse candidate since he played with Theirrien.
it's funny how so many fans were writing-off Sykora last year saying he was washed up and now this year there appears to be strong interest from a ton of fan-bases ...
