Who cares about his height? The main point should be that he can't be considered to be a steal since he has played zero NHL games. I'm also fairly certain he'll be Marty St. Louis 2.0 in the respect that he'll be waived to Tampa.

He isn't a steal yet, but he's got the drive to become one.

BTW what is with an entire page of people just arguing about how tall someone is?

Judging by your shock you are probably somewhere between 5'9" and 5'10"

I hope JG grows to at least there

MY guess is that he will become a great AHL player but will never actually crack an NHL line up. Similiar to Andy Meile (who won the Hobey Baker a few years ago). Enough skill to produce points in the AHL. But not enough size for the show.

Andy Meile who wasn't a ppg until his 3rd year in the NCAA and was 21 unlike JG who was 18 and his first was a ppg? The only comparables between the two is that they are roughly the same size and both played in the NCAA.

Just curious, are the blade and blade holder on goalie skates the same height as regular skates? I would guess they're not. Can anyone answer this?

Edit...nevrmind already answered

Yeh I don't think he is 5'9'' He isn't below 5'7'' though.

The reason I think he'll make the NHL is his timing and passing. He just showed it the last half of the first period against UNH Great backhand pass to tie the game up and then with 7 seconds left in the period he recognizes his dman is getting the puck deep and he goes for a long home run pass and times everything for a "somewhat" breakaway chance. Great pass by the dman but there aren't many forwards who recognize and transition in those types of situations very often.

I think his hockey instincts put him in a top 6 position in the NHL in the next three years. Too smart of a hockey player who knows the game better than the vast majority of players in the NHL right now

Gaudreau has an assist in his first game back from WJC so far.

It was top notch but obviously "out of this world" is embelishing a bit. What was great about the pass was that the left wing was not up with the play and Gaudreau without much of a look, passed backhand backwards and was perfect right on the LW's stick. It was one of those plays that most players would have sent it across expecting the LW to be there. JG made it a perfect pass.

He just scored on a great backhand shot. He finds ways to get open, hide and then get an ideal scoring chance off of a ton of transitions.

His backhand is ridiculous. I'm guessing it was blocker side, top shelf?

EDIT: BTW any streams for this game by chance?

Don't know about streams but it's on NESN. Yeah top shelf. The goalie should have had it, but still the kid is clearly on another level than all of the UNH players.

Not been impressed by Brett Pesce who was on Central Scouting's watch list. Have been impressed by Austin Block. Might be a guy someone might sign as a free agent after the season.

Agree. Should have had it. That is why I love backhands. Even good goalies struggle with how backhands come off the stick
