Here is what Gregor is actually saying

@JasonGregor: Now hearing Oilers might not open at home...Lots of late changes to sched...Could be Sunday in Vancouver. #nhl
@JasonGregor: Might be more than just 2 teams not playing on opening night. Some teams still looking over initial NHL sched to ensure no major conflicts.
@JasonGregor: Interesting. RT @BroadStBull NHL has changed sked format again. Teams will only play teams in same div. 4x. More details coming.
@JasonGregor: Sounds like NHL schedule will end April 28th. Very compressed sched. Oilers will play 48 games in 98 days. Including 8-game road trip.

That's all within the last half hour we'll know for sure soon enough

The schedule is going to be crazy! A game every 2nd night.. I am glad we do not have to play Vancouver and Calgary 5 times each, there is something about playing Calgary that devastates the Oilers...they just can not beat them lately..

1 less game against these two teams is always a good thing. I hope they play the majority of these games against CGY and VAN early so that they get some sort of jump on them.

Oilers beat the Flames the last two times they've played including a 6-1 drubbing in Calgary.

Yep...was really hoping for a HNIC game

but on the bright side, we'd face a tired Canucks team where most players haven't played all year

Where is this crazy schedule business coming from? Compared to the original schedule, the Oilers are playing 10 more games in 4 more weeks

Not bad but "N64" was decided upon almost as soon as he picked his number. It's a little less obscure

By my count it is actually 11 more games in 3 more weeks, which is quite a few but not an insane number.

It would suck if we had to wait an extra day longer than 90% of the league to play our first game. Having the first game on HNIC would have also been nice. Oh well I guess, not the end of the world, but still kinda sucks a bit (if the rumors end up being true).

Waiting till Sunday would suck. It'd be like everyone having a kickass NYE party but you aren't invited so you have your own crappy party the next day that no one cares about.

I seem to recall us being the last team to start their season last year. Pittsburgh was playing their third game when they played us in our opener.

Not fair!

The season starting on Monday would be even better.

Saturday and Sunday at this time of year are for NFL ball.

There won't be any Saturday NFL games after tomorrow.

Schultz will score a hattrick to make up for it.

8-0 Oilers in Schei8ers debut.

Doesn't seem insane but when you look at 48 games in bascially 96 days, there's no real down time at all. That is literally a game every 2nd day.

This is kinda like when the NBA started last season with no training camp because of the mini-lockout. There were some excruciating basketball games, particularly early in the season, where even great players were obviously rusty.

Bad enough we have half a season - I don't want the schedule to be so compressed that the product suffers for it.

Oops didn't realize they aren't going till May 5 anymore, but I still thought they had 38 scheduled already.
Anyways just thinking people should have been up in arms in July or August if they think this new schedule is bad.

It's a bit too modern for me. Too bad this Commodore #64 move never happened: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puc...urn=nhl,wp8949
