Then maybe Gaston is getting info from Michel about the lines and depth chart. Kind of worries me that he didn't place Subban in the top 3 d-men. We already got a glimpse of what Therrien seems to think about Subban earlier when he was hired.

He loves Subban, when everyone was criticizing his play last year, he's the only one who stood up for him against the other AC morons.

I actually still think Bourque can be a valuable goalscorer, but I think he's a terrible fit with Plekanec for two reasons:

-He's a horrific passer and Plekanec's playmaking is at its best when he has someone he can give and go with rather than just set up plays for.

-Plekanec matches up against the oppositions best lines and Bourque is really meant to be a depth scorer who feasts against weak opposition in a purely offensive role.

Plus Eller doesn't have a great track record on the wing, and putting our two best defensive forwards together has its risks. I'd really like to see if DD can get Bourque going.

I'm gonna propose something out of the ordinary here.

Bourque Desharnais Eller
Pacioretty Plekanec Cole
Armstrong Gomez Gionta

My issue with that is Gionta's ice time. He is at his best at even strength. I don't think it would help the team to tie his ice time to Gomez and Armstrong's, and I don't see a good opportunity to double shift him in this setup.

Louis Leblanc doesn't deserve to be rewarded. Just send him to the ECHL and have someone force-feed him every 2 hours.

Really excited to see what Bourque can do this season. I think he will have a good season.

This is what makes the most sense to me for the line up.

Pacioretty-------Desharnais-------Cole
Galchenyuk-----Plekanec---------Gionta
Bourque---------Eller--------------Armstrong
Prust-------------White------------Moen

Markov------Subban
Kaberle------Gorges
Emelin-------Diaz
Boullion-----Weber

Obviously there are some x factors. Particularly Markov and Kaberle. As well as Gally making the jump.

For Kabs and Markov, you have to go on faith. If it doesn't work out make a change. But to start the season, i think you have to give your guys the benefit of the doubt and expect that they will perform.

For Gally, I think it will be fine for his development to play this shortened season. And I can't think of 2 better players than Pleks and Gionta to learn from.

Gomez can float around the bottom 6 when there is injuries.

Leaving Weber and Boullion gives a lefty and a righty for injury call ups. Most of the question marks are on defence, but there aren't a whole lot of options. Like I said, you just have to expect that the players will perform and go from there.

Well...the grit/toughness is balanced, at least.

I like that lineup but I think I'd switch Armstrong with Moen and Galchenyuk with Bourque. That way there's some toughness on all lines.

I think he's just trying to encourage the team to make the playoffs or something. Basically implying he's not getting any younger and doesn't want to repeat last year.

..That or get an extension. You know, because he cares about the future players more than his money.

EDIT: So it is about the money...

Switching Moen and Armstong is definitely a possibility. I just liked the idea of a righty on the third line. I don't think I'd switch Bourque and Gally though unless he really started to get back to form. But at least the option is there to switch them if things aren't working out. Definitely on the Gally in Montreal bandwagon though now.

So.. he's going to retire and make 0$ instead of "biting the bullet" and play on his poor man 3M+ salary (with escrow)..

Makes sense.. sounds like a genius that guy

The whole lockout and now this has really changed my opinion of Cole. They kind of go in-line with the rumors about his attitude in Edmonton when things didn't go his way. Rumor is that he whined to management to send him back to Carolina.

Yeah me too. Not someone I'd want to have lunch with that's for sure.

He'll think of his future...what a joke. He'll be back 100% I guarantee it. If he's all about money what else is he going to do to earn that kind of cash?

He seriously needs to shut up. It's over move on.

Bourque is markedly better on the right wing, I hope they find him a spot there with a decent centre.

I agree and that's why I wish to see Galchenyuk - Desharnais - Bourque.

I remember Bourque providing a solid contribution to one of our most effective (short stint but effective nonetheless) shutdown line last season: Darche – Plekanec – Bourque. I think he can provide a solid two ways contribution to Desharnais and Galchenyuk. Plus, if anyone can jumpstart Bourque… it's Desharnais.

EDIT (I just saw Et le But's post):

#Habs Cole (via @jobern) : "I have to understand the escrow and how much money I'm actually left with. It's not what I originally signed."

Wow... weird guy.
