Speculation:If we don't acquire any D via FA/trades in the next three years, what do our defensive pairs look like after those three years? I'm assuming Barrie, Elliott and Siemens make the lineup, maybe Gaunce. You think any of them will get traded in the next few years?

Wilson - EJ
Siemens - Elliott
Gaunce - Barrie
Thoughts?
I think Siemens might end up being the ideal guy for Johnson. Although it would be nice to see Siemens and Elliott together again, just like junior, Siemens is projecting to be a shutdown guy. EJ could use a player like him to play with.
They get some stuff correct. The sort of broke the story about Hejda's injury this offseason. But yea... they said Parise to the Avs was a done deal too. I'll eat my words if he signs with the Avs... might eat my shoe actually.
I hope EJ worked on his lateral movement over the time off. I also want a very pissed off Erik Johnson when the season resumes.
Everything I've read suggests he hasn't been doing much of anything. Him and Hejduk both whom were doing other things like coaching instead of skating and working out.

I predict both will be injured right away
What?
EJ was in Minnesota playing hockey 4-5 times a week during the lockout.

Really? OK.
Thats much better then what I had heard. I know he was there recently skating skrimmage games with Parise and Suter and stuff but didn't know it was all off-season.
Glad I am wrong.
Still worried about Hejduk. Wish he would have retired

A short season might be better for Hejduk anyway. He started off last season well but faded.
"I've been skating 4-5 days a week...I'm in great shape I think. I've been training this entire time to make sure one day you wake up and have to go and play an NHL game."
He also seems like a pretty healthy guy in general. No reason to think he is going to be out of shape.
Im most interested to see what Johnson does this season but damn hes missed alot of hockey to start his young career both times through really no fault of his own( Golf cart, CBA Negotiations.)

I'm curious to see how the coaching staff changes will impact his game. Hopefully more ice time and responsibility, if he is playing like he played the last half of last season.
Nah he aint a stud yet he can be if he can ever learn to get the puck through traffic on a PP.
I don't know if there's a level he can get to with that consistently, that we didn't see last year. That goes for rushing the puck 5 on 5 too. That's why he needs a good two way guy to partner with, rather than a defensive D IMO.
I absolutely love how good he can skate and control the puck, its pretty special for a d man his size. I still believe he can hit his potential, just two years ago when he put up 39p, ppl had his listed as a top 10 or 15 dman now hes a #7.
